    Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams is unhappy at the lack of penalties awarded to his side.

    The League Two leaders are one of just three teams in the division not to have had a penalty this season, and felt they should have had a spot-kick when Jake Jervis appeared to have his shirt pulled in the area during Tuesday's  1-1 draw with Leyton Orient.

    "Everybody knows it was a penalty kick, but we don't seem to be getting any penalties," Adams told BBC Radio Devon.

    Christmas decorations in a Devon town - described as giant green sparkly pants on a washing line - are to be used for the next three years, the head of the committee which chose them says.

    Former Mayor Sue Griggs, who is chairwoman of the local Christmas lights committee, said: "We picked them because they're nice and festive, and we liked the shapes."

    Campaigners for faster broadband in the South West's rural areas are heading to London to call on the government for more money to pay for an improved service.

    The delegation will meet with Devon and Somerset MPs to call on them to lobby for better broadband coverage in remote areas.

    Plans for a small boat marina at Custom House Quay in Falmouth have been scrapped by the harbour commissioners after opposition from residents, planners and Historic England.

    Harbour commissioners had hoped to introduce pontoons and low ladders to the quay, instead of the current system of having boats tied to each other or moorings on the walls.

    Two of Cornwall's best-known performing groups are uniting to bring 'Brassed Off' to Cornwall for the first time.

    The stage play is based on the famous film of the same name, telling the story of a northern colliery brass band, hit hard when their local coal mine shuts.

  8. Tiverton's Christmas Decorations: Are they pants?published at 11:14

    Christmas decorations which have been put up in a Devon town have been described as "giant green sparkly pants on a washing line". 

    Some of the Christmas decorations in Tiverton town centre, which have cost £15,000, were selected because the Christmas committee "liked the shapes". However, since they were delivered, people claim they resemble pants on a line.

    Former mayor Sue Griggs, who helped choose them, said: "They're Father Christmas's sparkly pants and they're great". She added she hoped the lights would attract people from across the country.

    College lecturers, teachers and nursery workers in Cornwall are getting special counter-terror training, paid for by the Home Office, to spot the signs of children being radicalised.

    The preventing extremism and terror, external lead for Cornwall Steve Rowell said monitoring internet access is crucial: "We see older siblings accessing material online - that might be pornography, might be beheadings, might be inappropriate content - for younger siblings to be sat on the bed, as young as five, six or seven, you can imagine the impact it would have on them."

    A woman has been cut free from a car after a road accident in Devon.

    The fire service said, external two fire crews found the car on its side on Kingsbridge Hill, near Totnes, at about 06:30. The woman was released using hydraulic equipment and a saw.

    An ambulance and police were also called. The woman's condition is not known.

    The police say they need the public's help to trace a man who went missing, external from his home in St Erth at the weekend.

    Eugene Evans, 71, is described as being around six feet tall and of slim build - until recently he had dreadlocks but is believed to have cut them off.
