    -  An accident is reported on Branwell Lane in Penzance near the A30 junction.

    -  The A30 in Camborne is partially blocked eastbound around Camborne West, because of a broken-down car and recovery work.

    - There is very slow traffic on the A39 in both directions between the Carland Cross junction and the Trispen junction due to roadworks.

    - A collapsed manhole is reported on St Marychurch Road in Newton Abbot around the Connybear Lane junction. Approach with care.

    - There is disruption on GWR and CrossCountry routes because of signalling problems between Newton Abbot and Paignton.

  3. Man in hospital after 'robber confrontation' stabbingpublished at 12:09

    A man is in hospital after a stabbing by a suspected a robber in Plymouth, policesay, external.

    A robber believed to have taken two mobile phones "within a matter of minutes" in the Barbican area just after midnight on Sunday was confronted by members of the public.

    A 25-year-old local man was in intensive care after being stabbed while trying to detain the suspected robber, police said. The confrontation was at the junction of Looe Street and Vauxhall Street after robberies in Notte Street and beside The Ship pub. CCTV has been released of the suspect.

    When an Indian man invented a simple machine for poor rural women to make cheap sanitary pads, the idea was to provide jobs for some, and hygiene for millions.

  7. People 'lose home care at short notice'published at 11:21

    People in Cornwall say they're losing vital home care services at short notice because companies can't recruit and retain their staff.

    Two people in St Agnes said they were given just six days' notice that their care package was ending.

    The council said it delayed contacting people and causing unnecessary distress because, in many instances, "alternative provision can be found".

    A fault with the signalling system near Newton Abbot is causing delays to Great Western and Cross Country services.

    The Cornish Pirates director of rugby Ian Davies says his side is turning its league form around after a bonus point win at London Welsh.

    The Pirates scored five tries to triumph 38-19 at Old Deer park on Saturday.

    Ian Davies said: "I'm glad that big panic button that people were trying to press in front of me three weeks ago didn't get pressed because we knew what we were doing, we knew we were trying to move forward, we knew it would take time."

  12. Police appeal for information after Plymouth stabbingpublished at 10:06

    Police in Plymouth are hunting a man who tried to rob two men of their mobile phones, then stabbed a member of the public, external who tried to intervene.

    The two attempted robberies occurred on the Barbican just after midnight on Saturday night.

    A short while later the suspect - pictured on CCTV above - was confronted at the junction of Looe Street and Vauxhall Street. One member of the public suffered two stab wounds whilst trying to detain him.

    A Devon football referee has been telling BBC Sport how he was punched to the ground after showing a player a red card.

    A new survey seen by the BBC shows nearly two-thirds of football referees in England say they experience verbal abuse on a regular basis.

    Donald Distin from Devon was attacked last year but said things were not getting better: "I did a game the other day - it was a local derby and there were 10 cautions and two sending-offs. I sent someone off the field of play and he came towards me and said 'I'm going to kill you', as well as a load of expletives."

  15. Investigations underway after two suspected arsons in Looepublished at 09:20

    Fire crews in Looe were called out twice to bin fires last night, with arson suspected in both cases.

    The first was at Quay Road in Looe, external where a wheelie bin had been set alight at around 22:30. 

    Later firefighters had to put out a second fire in a wooden bin storage area, external in Downs Road in the town at around 03:45.

    People living on the south coast of Cornwall say they're shocked to learn that waste dredged from Plymouth has been disposed of off a local beauty spot.

    There has been a long-running campaign by people in nearby Whitsand Bay to end disposal there, but now a relatively small but significant disposal has taken place at Lantic Bay.

    The licensing authority says Lantic Bay is suitable for small-scale disposal in the short term, but local people say they are concerned.
