    The seaside village of Porthleven in Cornwall once again cowers under the power of the waves unleashed by Storm Imogen which has battered the South West coast.

    The Met Office, external says winds have peaked across southern England, but very strong gusts will continue overnight.

    Cape Cornwall School in St Just has remained closed all day after part of its sports hall roof blew off in high winds.

    The school will be closed again tomorrow, affecting 400 pupils.

    The winds will gradually ease tonight, however local coastal gales will remain. It'll be a mainly dry night but isolated showers are likely in the north and west. Minimum Temperature: 2 Deg C.

    Tuesday will be a cold and windy day with further gales likely, especially over high ground like Exmoor. There'll be a mixture of scattered heavy wintry showers and sunny spells, with the showers becoming less frequent later. Maximum Temperature: 6 Deg C.

    The police are urging people not to put their lives at risk by going wave watching around Devon and Cornwall.

    Sergeant Mark Ruston has taken to twitter, external after a conference to warn the public that being hit by a wave is described as "being hit by a lorry."

    Storm Imogen has halted all flying at the Royal Navy's air station in Cornwa, externalll, with gusts of more than 70mph recorded. RNAS Culdrose at Helston said its primary role was to ensure "safe aviation" at all times.

    - Strong winds, with gusts of more than 70mph, have brought down power lines and numerous trees, causing widespread disruption to traffic across Devon and Cornwall.

    - In Cornwall, fallen scaffolding has blocked Ulalia Road in Newquay between Narrowcliff and Hilgrove Road.

    - The A361 near Landkey in Devon is partially blocked due by an overturned vehicle.  

    - On the trains, delays of up to an hour are expected between Exeter St Davids and Taunton until 18:30.

    - In Exeter, Marsh Barton Road is closed under the railway bridge due to flooding.

    -  A broken-down bus has blocked one lane of the A377 Alphington Road in Exeter, near Marsh Barton Road.

    Last-minute sea defences are being put in place in an attempt to protect the coast in Cornwall from ferocious weather conditions.

    The Watering Hole in Perranporth was flooded in the storms of January 2014 and is now shoring up the sand ahead of high water at around 17:00.

    Heavy rain has caused a landslip in Brixham, external, bringing tonnes of rocks crashing down near flats.

    The rocks tumbled from the 70ft cliff face on Overgang Road opposite Brixham Yacht Club and landed near the flats in Dolphin Court.

    Jonathan Salisbury, who was travelling to Sheffield when the accident happened, described it as: "One of those things. Train hits tree and we all wait around... it was companionable and the staff were very good."
