    - About 4,000 of homes, businesses and schools are without power in Devon and Cornwall as Storm Imogen sweeps across the region. 

    - A man and dog have been rescued by firefighters from floodwater in Paignton and a number of roads have been blocked by trees and debris.

    - The severe weather has also disrupted travel, with flights, trains and ferry services affected.

    - The head of Torbay and Devon Safeguarding Adults Board, external has resigned, claiming government budget cuts is making it impossible to properly protect vulnerable people.

    - The private firm running cleaning and catering at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has apologised after staff were not paid correctly

    - In Bolventor the A30 is partially blocked in the roadworks area over Bodmin Moor.

    - In Four Lanes electricity cables are partly down and arcing, drive with care. 

    - There is a cable in the road at Vicarage Road in Porthleven.

    - In Penzance, Market Jew Street is blocked by a fallen tree.

    - The A39 at Helstone is partially blocked by a fallen tree at the turning for Lanteglos. 

    - Skybus flights are on hold due to the very strong winds 

    - On the trains there are delays and cancellations likely on all services between Bristol Temple Meads and Penzance due to high winds and speed restrictions, and the line between Liskeard and Looe is closed due to flooding.

    - The Totnes to Avonwick road is partially blocked just off the A38, by the Turtley Corn Mill, due to flooding. 

    - In Newton St Cyres, Station Road is closed due to a tree wedged under Lower Creedy Bridge. 

    - On the A396 between Exeter and Stoke Canon, near the junction with Pennsylvania Road, a large tree branch is blocking one lane and a fallen tree is partially blocking Woodwater Lane 

    - At Stoke Canon, we've had reports of an accident on the High Street, near Chestnut Crescent.  

    - The A386 is blocked at Hatherleigh near The Sawmills. 

    - Near Barnstaple, Taw Bridge is closed to high-sided vehicles due to strong winds. 

    - In Shaldon, Bridge Road is partially blocked due to debris on the road. 

    - The South Molton to Crediton road is blocked due to a fallen tree by the Kings Nympton turn off.

    Huge waves were captured at high tide on the Isles of Scilly this morning.

    Dave Sherris managed to photograph the huge surf at St Mary's.

    The entrance to the quay at the harbour has been closed until tomorrow morning.

    A man and dog were rescued from floodwater as Storm Imogen hit last night.

    Two fire crews were mobilised to Gropers Lane, Compton, Paignton at 22.47 to reports of a vehicle stuck in water. 

    Crews donned dry suits and rescued the male driver and his dog from the vehicle and led them to safety.

    The bad weather has been affecting some local schools.

    Tintagel primary school is closed because of a power cut and Cury school won't open until 10:00 because it's also without electricity.

    Flooding has hit parts of Plymouth as Storm Imogen sweeps across Devon and Cornwall.

    Meanwhile, fire crews are out in the Totnes area where homes have been affected by floodwater coming off roads.

  9. Severe weather brings widespread power cutspublished at 07:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2016

    Home in St Austell, Truro, Newquay, Tintagel and Troon have been affected by power cuts this morning.

    Western Power Distribution, external says it hopes to restore supplies to all homes by 12:00.
