  12. Profits for Flybe 'a significant moment', boss claimspublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 9 June 2016

Neil Gallacher, Business & Industry Correspondent
    BBC Spotlight

Flybe's boss Saad Hammad is hailing pre-tax annual profits of £2.7m as a significant moment.

It's the first time the airline has been properly profitable - in underlying terms as well as in headline terms - since it floated in 2010.

Often under pressure since then, Flybe has had a long struggle to convince investors it was worth the money. Flybe's chief executive Saad Hammad's arrival coincided with a tough cost-cutting drive, seeing staff leave and bases close.

He's been helped by falling fuel costs, but hindered by other international factors such as terrorism and industrial action abroad. He calls these results "very encouraging" and in early trading, the Flybe share price suggested investors might agree.
