    Devon and Cornwall Police said the Boardmasters Festival, held in Newquay over the weekend was a great success, with no significant incidents. 

    About 40,000 people went to the music and surfing festival, and 55 crimes were recorded, which were mostly thefts.

    A swimmer pulled out of the sea at Porthtowan after getting caught in a suspected rip current has died, coastguards have confirmed.

    Emergency crews were called just before 09:00 on Sunday after the swimmer got into difficulty. 

    They were rescued by local surfers, who also performed CPR, before being airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

    A ban on the sale of so-called "zombie knives" is set to come into force in England and Wales later this week.

    Inspired by horror films, the curved blades with serrated edges are often sold as collectors' items, but police say they are increasingly being carried by criminals. Last year a north London teenager was killed with one of the weapons.

    Truro MP and Safeguarding Minister Sarah Newton said the ban would "keep communities safe". 

    The new legislation, banning the sale, manufacture, rental or importation of zombie knives will take effect on Thursday. Anyone caught breaking the law will face up to four years in prison. The weapons can be bought on the internet for as little as £8.

    Removing the wreck of an abandoned boat from a Devon harbour could cost taxpayers thousand of pounds, according to an official report. 

    The condition of the large motor sailing vessel September has been deteriorating in Bideford Harbour. The estimated cost of dealing with the vessel ranges from £10,000-£50,000. 

    Members of Torridge District Council are due to discuss the situation today, and said efforts over several years to get the boat's owner to deal with it had been unsuccessful.

    A climber has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital after falling 65ft from cliffs at Sennen, coastguards say.

    The alarm was raised shortly before 16:00 on Sunday and a rescue operation was launched which involved the police, coastguard rescue teams from Penzance and Lands End and a rescue helicopter. 

    The woman was winched on board the helicopter and taken to hospital in Plymouth. Her condition is not known.

    One person has been questioned by police after a fire in a disused building near St Ives, external.

    The blaze broke out in the property on Laity Lane in Carbis Bay at about 03:10. 

    Emergency crews found rubbish on the fire and "arson was suspected", the fire service said.

    Public access to three "really significant" shipwrecks will not be affected by government protection for the sites, Historic England has said.

    Permission will now be required for people to investigate the medieval fishing boat and two 18th Century merchant vessels in Devon, on the west side of the Axe River and off Westward Ho! (pictured). Causing deliberate damage to the wrecks will also be illegal.

    Historic England said the status did not prevent people from "building sandcastles next to them".

    There are calls for action in Hayle as campaigners say the port has become almost unnavigable for larger boats because of silt. 

    The channel into the port used to be kept clear through a process called sluicing but that hasn't been done since the 1980s.

    Four crews were called to the scene at 11:00 on Sunday and fought the fire throughout the day. 

    They salvaged some items from the barn and a nearby workshop was protected. Western Power isolated overhead cables. Two relief crews were called in at 22:00.
