    There's a warning people could suffer health problems as thousands are currently unable to register with an NHS dentist in Cornwall.

    One dentist who oversees training in the county said if people weren't getting to see a dentist, potentially serious health problems could be missed.

    Malcolm Prideaux said: "Particularly we always check for mouth cancers ... We can also sometimes pick up early signs of diabetes and heart disease as well."

    A national newspaper report at the weekend, external suggested that more than 14,000 people in Cornwall were stuck on waiting lists and some were facing waits of up to 18 months to register.

    NHS England admitted that demand was rising but added it was looking to increase capacity in areas of the county which were under pressure.

    The first part of a sculpture of the music icon David Bowie has been revealed.

    The life-size figure is just part of a much bigger work celebrating Bowie's life by sculptor Andrew Sinclair. An online campaign raised more than £100,000 to pay for the piece.

    It will be eventually be cast in bronze and capture Bowie at various stages in his career.

    More than 15,000 Exeter City fans have purchased tickets for the Sky Bet League Two play-off final.

    Tickets for the game went on sale at noon last Friday and 10,000 seats were snapped up in the first 24 hours of sale. Exeter has an allocation of 20,000 tickets.

    The Grecians booked their place in the final thanks to a dramatic injury-time winner from Jack Stacey (pictured) on Thursday night, which gave them a 6-5 aggregate victory over Carlisle United.

    That win has set up the match with Blackpool at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 28 May for a place in League One next season and demand for tickets from City supporters has been high.

    Those still wanting to buy tickets for the match are advised to do so as early as possible. The deadline for purchasing tickets for postal orders is Thursday afternoon. Sales from Thursday night to noon on Friday 16 May will be for collection at Wembley Stadium only.

    Fire crews were called to a fire at a flat in Tiverton last night.

    Firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming from the second floor flat in St Paul's Square at just before 22:00.

    Crews said that one chair was destroyed by fire, but the damage was contained to the bedroom area. The flat was left damaged by smoke and fire.

    The cause is believed to be accidental.

    The ferry linking the Isles of Scilly with the British mainland is celebrating 40 years in service and more than 9,000 return journeys.

    The Scillonian III was officially launched by Prince Charles in 1977.

    Tonight, following a party for staff and guests, a firework display will be held in its home port of Penzance. Next month a reception will be held on board whilst the ferry is docked at St Mary's in Scilly.

    Road users crossing Dartmoor are being warned that speed operations will be taking place during the day, evenings and weekends in the coming weeks.

    It follows a day earlier this month when 34 drivers were captured on camera travelling over the 40mph limit, with the highest speed recorded at more than 70mph.

    Officers from the Peninsula Road Safety Partnership were responding to complaints from local people about excessive speeding on the moor.

    His seven-month-old cocker spaniel, Mr Boots (pictured right, next to Honey), is in the dog house after he destroyed the document less than two weeks before the flight.
