  4. Kevin Foster on his Torbay win: 'Bexit clearly had an impact'published at 02:47 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    BBC Radio Devon

    Kevin Foster

Kevin Foster has spoken after holding Torbay with a massive increase in majority.

He said: "I'm surprised by scale of the result. A 14,000 majority, which is the largest majority in the bay since the 1970s for any MP, is quite a surprise to say the least.

"Brexit clearly had an impact, I think my majority was more than the number of votes the Lib Dems got, and their policy clearly didn't go down well with voters."

Tim Matthews, who stood as the UKIP candidate for Central Devon, said the actions of UKIP were "not morally or politically acceptable".

Mr Matthews, who described himself as "a natural Conservative, admittedly to the right of the party", claimed the UKIP leadership "failed to listen to the membership and opted for division rather than discussion".

  17. Shock result possible in Devon Eastpublished at 01:42 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Election 2017

There could be a big upset in East Devon if early reports from local sources are true, as writes Daily Mail reporter Katie French.

Hugo Swire has been MP since 2001, with an increased majority in 2015.

Notably, though, second place fell to Independent Claire Wright, a local councillor and campaigner, who notched up an impressive 13,140 votes to Swire’s 25,401.

Could we see Ms Wright take control this time?
