  15. Election 2017: Why does Plymouth have such marginal seats?published at 22:47 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

    Sian Davies
    BBC News Online

In 2015, both Plymouth seats were won by Conservatives with a majority of less than 5%.

Plymouth, Sutton and Devonport, won by just 523 votes, is one of the most marginal seats in the country.

Why then, when other urban areas have strong party allegiances, is Plymouth a swing city?

    Dr Mike Sheaff

"Plymouth is a city that's had quite a different history to many cities," says Mike Sheaff, Associate Professor of Sociology at Plymouth University.

"It has the social class composition of what you would expect to have a high Labour vote.

"But historically naval towns are more conservative than their class composition might suggest."

  16. Constituency profile: Camborne and Redruthpublished at 22:33 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

    Martyn Oates
    BBC South West Political Editor

In its previous guise as Falmouth and Camborne, this seat has the rare distinction in the South West of having been won at different times by the Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

Held by former Olympic athlete Sebastian Coe until 1997, it has since passed to Labour, then the Lib Dems and finally back to the Tories in 2010.

Defending Tory George Eustice went into the 2015 election with a majority of just 66 votes, making it the most marginal seat in the South West.

He emerged with a majority of 7004, with Labour second and UKIP third, while the Lib Dems vote collapsed, putting them in fourth place.

The candidates are George Eustice (Conservative), Geoff Garbett (Green Party), Geoff Williams (Liberal Democrat), Graham Winter (Labour).
