Fishermen are being forced to throw "thousands of pounds" worth of seabass away due to strict fishing quotas.
Plymouth fisherman Steven Walker said: "Years gone by we used to jump up and down to see the bass come onto the boat.
"Now we are very sad that we have to throw it away."
Another Plymouth-based fisherman, Joel Dunn believed that in one trip, a colleague was forced to throw £23,000 worth of fish back into the sea.
Fisheries ministers from across the EU are meeting today to set next year's sea bass quota.

Firefighters were forced to break a car window in the Plymouth area to rescue a two-year-old child trapped inside.
The mother called the fire service after realising that the car had become locked with the keys, and her child, locked inside.
The child was uninjured.
Tonight there will be a few showers with clear spells in between, but isolated freezing fog patches may form in prone spots across Devon.
Temperatures will tumble under clear spells with a widespread frost, leading to a minimum temperature of -2 Deg C (28 Deg F)
Tomorrow: Any showers will ease away to leave a fine morning with some sunny spells, although it will still feel cold.
Skies will turn cloudier through the afternoon with patchy rain arriving by evening.

A motorcyclist who died in a three-vehicle crash in Tregony near Truro has been named by police as 53-year-old David Lawrence from the St Austell area.
Mr Lawrence was riding his motorbike out of Tregony when he collided with a Land Rover on Friday 1 December.
He later died in Treliske Hospital of his injuries.
No one else was injured in the accident.
Eyewitnesses have described "big flames coming out of the main chimney and thick black smoke" in a serious fire at the Finnygook Inn at Crafthole.
"It doesn’t look good. It's a fantastic pub, I'm crying for them," said local Mike Luker.
Firefighters from Torpoint, Saltash and Liskeard along with crews from Launceston, St Austell and St Dennis are there with an aerial ladder.

Sixty council employees have now made the "milestone" move into the new "Riverside" building in Bideford, as part of Torridge District Council's plan to deliver £1m of savings.
The council have now realised £878,000 in savings against the £1,000,000 target.
The move is part of the Council's "Transforming Torridge" plan, in which all council services will move to one site to improve efficiency and decrease expenditure ahead of planned government funding cuts.
Cllr Jane Whittaker, leader of Torridge District Council said: "The overall aim is to continue to find ways to save money in the face of reducing Central Government grants but without compromising the level of service we offer residents and visitors".

A lead coffin unearthed during demolition of Bretonside bus station has been revealed to be the daughter of well-known Plymouth porcelain manufacturer and Quaker, William Cookworthy.
Investigations discovered a name plate on the coffin, identifying the remains as those of Elizabeth Cookworthy, who died on 9 October 1833 at the age of 90.
The area was cleared and levelled in 1956 for the construction of the bus station, but Elizabeth's coffin remained undiscovered due to the depth of the grave, a symbol of her status.
Her coffin has been taken to a secure chapel of rest, and measures are being taken to ensure that she is re-interred in Plymouth in a Quaker fashion.

A girl has been awarded £20m in damages for birth injuries suffered in a Devon hospital.
Her brain was starved of oxygen during her delivery at Barnstaple’s North Devon District Hospital.
The eight-year-old, who cannot be identified, is described as "bright and outgoing" but is severely disabled by cerebral palsy, London's High Court heard.
Her condition affects all four limbs, said her barrister, Christopher Gibson QC.

An inquest into the death of a Plymouth woman has heard a call handler told a worried neighbour the smell from a house fire was "only smoke in the area".
Crews did not arrive at the scene of the blaze for 90 minutes after the first call, by which time Ms Wigmore, 76, had died from smoke inhalation, the inquest heard.
One of the firefighters attending was shouted at when he arrived at Sussex Road, Plymouth, by a neighbour who said "you should have been here two hours ago" and that "if she's dead, it's on you", the inquest also heard.
Station manager David Roddy who led an investigation confirmed that one officer in the control room was dismissed with immediate effect and another officer received a final written warning and re-training.
He said: "This was an individual failing rather than an organisational failing".
The coroner Ian Arrow recorded a narrative conclusion.

An inquest into the death of Molly Wigmore, 76, in a Plymouth house fire has found that a crew deployment was "overruled" in a "breach of procedure".
According to station manager David Roddy, who led an investigation, following a call reporting a smell of smoke a minimum of one pump should have been deployed immediately to Ms Wigmore's house, about a mile-and-a-half from Camel's Head Fire Station.
However, the senior operator overruled sending a pump to a call about "smoke in the area", the inquest heard.
Mr Roddy called it "an individual failing rather than an organisational policy failing".
Ms Wigmore's sister Sheila said: "Molly was a loving lady. I am satisfied this was a one off but it is too tragic".
The coroner Ian Arrow recorded a narrative conclusion.

A Plymouth inquest heard that two fire control room officers "failed to deal with calls with due diligence".
One senior officer was sacked from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and the second call-handler was given a final written warning and given re-training.

An elderly woman has been robbed of a Christmas gift from her late husband, police have said.
The woman was shopping in Barnardo's charity shop in the St Marychurch area of Torquay on 6 December when her handbag was stolen.
The bag was a gift from her partner last Christmas. He has since passed away and the item was of "great sentimental value", police said.
PC Leah Taylor said: "This is such a heartless crime. Not only has the aggrieved suffered a financial loss but an emotional one too".
"The impact of losing a cherished link to a loved one is difficult to measure".
The handbag is red with a shoulder strap. Police are appealing for information.

Firefighters that battled a blaze that involved 30 scrapped cars have confirmed the cause of the fire was accidental.
Crews are still monitoring the scene at the Milber Trading Estate, Newton Abbot.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received 30 calls reporting the blaze earlier on Monday.
At its peak, five fire engines were at the scrapyard tackling the blaze.

A garage has been damaged by a "severe fire" in Plymouth.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a blaze at a property on Oreston Road just before 13:00.
Two fire engines were sent to the garage which was detached and separated from the main house.
On arrival, smoke and flames were seen coming from the building, the fire service said.
The fire was kept contained to the garage. The cause of the blaze was accidental, the fire service said.
