    Plymouth Argyle fans are being offered the chance to own what the club is calling "a piece of Home Park history" after furniture from the players' lounge was put up for sale on eBay.

    Seventy-two chairs and 12 catering trolleys are being auctioned to make room for stadium renovations.

    At the time of going to press, bidding for the chairs had reached the lofty heights of £1.20.

    Cornwall Council's total debt currently stands at £723m.

    The high figure is detailed in a report on the council's performance which is due to go before the council's Cabinet next week.

    However the report explains that the council also has investments worth £408m so the net debt is £315m.

    The report also highlights that the council is set to write off a £150,000 "bad debt" which it is owed by a solar energy company which folded.

    The authority had aimed to make savings of £35.5m in the last year but only achieved £27.1m - almost 24% off target.

    Plans for a new high wire adventure course for children near Exeter will swing into gear.

    Go Ape, based at Haldon Forest Park, have had their plans for a new high ropes course aimed at six to 12-year-olds approved.

    Teignbridge District Council planners have given the go-ahead for a new course to be built next to the existing Go Ape 'Tree Top Adventure' high ropes course.

    Approving the scheme, council officers said: "Taking into account the design, scale and location of the proposed works as well as potential increased visitor numbers, the development would not have a significant effect on the area or protected species and would not have a significant impact on highway safety."

    The application said that the proposal has been developed in close liaison with the Forestry Commission. Kenn Parish Council had also been in favour of the plans.

    The designers of a property in west Cornwall are among the regional winners of a coveted architecture award.

    Pengwynver is a single storey extension on a 1920s granite cottage in Sennen, influenced by its ocean views.

    It is one of 140 regional award winners announced by the Royal Institute of British Architects, external celebrating the best architecture from around the UK.

    It was designed by Stan Bolt architects.

    Not bad views either.

    People could have the chance to live on the water if plans to create a barge home development get the go ahead.

    Pre-planning advice has been sought for the plans to build a 29-berth community pontoon which would have barge homes moored on it in Sailors' Creek, Penryn.

    However the plans have attracted opposition from local residents who say the boats look more like "floating London flats" than house boats.

    In pre-application advice given by Cornwall Council planning officers, the applicants are advised to take the plans to the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) unit to see if they would be willing to support them. However the advice given by the officer states that the proposed development "could potentially be supported".

    A document detailing the plans sets out that the area is currently in a poor state, highlighting rubbish which has been left there and abandoned vessels in the creek. It also states that there is poor access to the area and that it is "neglected".

    Students at South Devon College are experimenting with immersive theatre - a new trend that blurs the lines between the audience and actors.

    Everyone has a part to play in this type of theatre performance with the stage and the whole auditorium used. Crucially the audience not just passive bystanders.

    As part of their training for jobs in the industry, students have been trying out different creative disciplines to build a show to be staged at the Paignton Picture House.

    Cornwall Council has confirmed that no data was lost when one of its members was targeted by cyber scammers.

    In a statement, the authority said that the councillor reported the incident straight away, which enabled technicians to quickly contain the problem, and there was no risk to the wider IT system.

    Councillors were asked to re-set their passwords as a precaution.

    In response to Truro Councillor Rob Nolan's claim on social media, external that the breach could have cost Cornwal Council "several thousand", the authority says the cost "amounts to the time it took for a member of the Council’s IT team to rebuild the PC."

    Plymouth businessman and former Royal Navy Commander Charles Howeson has been found not guilty of two sex offence charges.

    He was acquitted of attempted buggery and an alternative charge of indecent assault at Bristol Crown Court.

    He burst into tears as his verdict was read out.

    He's been granted bail until sentencing on his earlier convictions which will take place next Friday.

  14. Plymouth tower residents welcome cladding improvement workpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 14 June 2018

    Residents living in high-rise towers in Plymouth are welcoming the news that work to replace cladding on the buildings is expected to start in October.

    Plymouth Community Homes - which owns the towers at Mount Wise - say it's been "very complex" to get to this point but is pleased progress is now being made.

    Last year the material used at Mount Wise was found to be similar to cladding at Grenfell Tower. Residents said they were disappointed the cladding hadn't been replaced.

    However, these residents are now pleased something is being done...

    Earlier, the names of the 72 people who died in the Grenfell Tower fire a year ago were read out at a memorial service close to the building in west London.

    A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after crashing into a stationary lorry on the A38.

    The man suffered minor injuries and was "shaken by the incident", according to ambulance staff.

    The road was closed earlier to allow the emergency services to attend, but all lanes have since reopened.

    Hundreds of people have gathered in Falmouth to watch Sir Robin Knox-Johnson and his yacht Suhaili lead a parade of boats to mark the 50th anniversary of the first solo and non-stop circumnavigation around the globe.

    Sir Robin, from Portsmouth, spent 312 days at sea on board the 32ft (10m) sketch after setting sail from the Cornish port on 14 June 1968.

    The celebrated yachtsman, who is now 79, has spent three years restoring Suhaili to its former glory.
