A search is still ongoing for a young grey seal with a length of green rope knotted around his neck.
There are concerns Lucky Star, as the seal has been named, could be strangled as he grows bigger by what is thought to possibly be remnants of lost or discarded fishing equipment, or so-called ghost gear.
Lucky Star was first spotted on 17 May and has been spotted along the north Cornwall coast at Padstow, Portreath and St Ives.
Dan Jarvis (pictured), of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue group (BDMLR), who is routinely called out to reports of dolphin and porpoise strandings, said the situation was "a real worry".
Quote MessageWe have one case study from several years ago where an animal of a similar sort of age lasted about 84 days entangled and then was, unfortunately, found dead. It's a real worry that this has been going on for quite some time and we’ve not been able to catch him so far."
