    We've been in contact with Essex Police about today's Asda car park crash in Shoeburyness.

    The force told us it wants anybody who witnessed what happened to get in touch on 101. 

    An elderly woman is currently in hospital after suffering serious injuries.

  10. Asda crash update: Elderly woman in 'serious condition'published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2016

    East of England Ambulance Service, external has given us an update on the crash involving a vehicle and two pedestrians outside Asda in Shoeburyness this afternoon.

    We're told an elderly woman has been taken to Southend Hospital in a serious condition and is being treated for a suspected fractured leg.

    Two people have been hurt after a vehicle collided with pedestrians outside the Asda supermarket in Shoeburyness, the East of England Ambulance Service, external says.

    It happened outside the store in North Shoebury Road at about 13:45.

    It is understood the air ambulance was called, but both patients were taken to hospital by road.

  12. Olly Murs' Colchester United charity double-booking 'resolved'published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2016

    Yesterday Olly Murs announced a stadium concert at Colchester United's ground - however it later emerged that this date clashed with a charity event and the fundraiser had been cancelled

    Today, a spokesman from Colchester United said the situation had been resolved to the "satisfaction of both parties".

    "We, Colchester United, have had a number of conversations with the event organisers for the Help Alexia Walk fundraiser this morning," he said.

    "As they had booked acts for the event on June 10, they have chosen to move the fundraiser to another venue.

    "Olly Murs and his team were completely unaware of the charity event when confirming their show.  

    "We have offered the charity the opportunity to fund raise at one of our first team match days in 2017."

    Essex Police has confirmed it wants people to come forward after an offensive swear word was sprayed on to a horse in Canvey overnight.

    Police are appealing for information after a horse was spray-painted with an offensive word. The horse was let out of the stable, spray-painted and the owners tack room was also trashed with horse food and equipment damaged."

  14. Man arrested after woman dies in Colchesterpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2016

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following the death of a woman found unconscious at a house in Colchester, police say.

    Emergency services attended the property in Mountbatten Drive at about 16:30 yesterday. A 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital, where she died this morning. 

    A 59-year-old man is currently being questioned by officers.
