  1. Hereford FC 'poor' in gamespublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

    Hereford FC's, external manager Pete Beadle admits they have been "poor" in two games and "got away with it" following their 3-2 win over Mangotsfield United at Edgar Street last night. 

    The Bulls led three times in the game through Aaron Birch, John Mills and Jamie Willets, but were made to work very hard for the victory in Southern League Division One South and West.

    Beadle said: "Certainly through pre-season we looked sharp and lively and for whatever reason in the two league games we haven't been anywhere near ourselves I don't think."   

    Evesham United were 2-0 up at home to Didcot Town, but a poor second-half showing meant they had to settle for a 2-2 draw. 

    In the Premier Division, it's six points from six for Redditch United, who won 4-2 at Stratford Town.

    A former social worker who cared for people with spinal problems has been awarded £2m after being left paralysed following a routine operation.

    Stephen Onley, 56, suffered complications after he was given an epidural during hip resurfacing surgery.

    It resulted in a lack of blood to the spine which left Mr Onley, from Bromgsrove, wheelchair bound.

    Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, external said they review "serious incidents such as this one" to "prevent similar incidents".

    The future of a Herefordshire company that helped to build King Richard III's coffin has been saved after it was taken over by a national charity. 

    Whitney Sawmills, external has provided wood for heritage projects such as the royal barge Gloriana and the restoration of Nelson's flagship HMS Victory.

    Founder Will Bullough said he was delighted the charity Woodland Heritage, external had secured its future and it was "an absolute blessing" jobs had been secured.

    He said: "They've been secured by a charity that is so like-minded in its purpose."

    Kidderminster Harriers, external were left frustrated as they slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Brackley Town.

    Harriers trailed 2-0 but got back into the game through Tyrell Waite's penalty.

    Worcester City, external were beaten 1-0 at Tamworth as Jack Lane scored the winner with only nine minutes remaining.

    The City manager Carl Heeley said they did not deserve to lose.

    He said: "The least we should be coming away from is a 0-0 with a clean sheet. It was one of those games. It was on a knife edge, could have gone either way."

    A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital this morning after a house fire in Bromsgrove.

    Stourbridge Road is now open at Hinton Fields in both directions. 

    The woman has been taken to the Alexandra Hospital suffering with smoke inhalation, West Midlands Ambulance Service, external said.

  12. Ceramic butterflies on display for hospicepublished at 09:14 British Summer Time 10 August 2016

    Hundreds of ceramic butterflies are going on display in Worcestershire today to help raise money for Kemp Hospice. 

    People will be able to see the butterflies at the Bodenham Arboretum, external near Wolverley.

    Two hundred will be on display, but organisers hope to sell 1,000.

    Traffic is moving reasonably well around the area this morning, although there are a few delays caused by roadworks, including the M5 northbounds near J5.

    It's also slow in Great Witley on the A443 Worcester Road between the A451 and the B4204, again due to roadworks.
