Those are the words of a Bromsgrove man, Steve Onley (pictured above), who's been awarded £2m after being left paralysed following a routine operation.

The new chief constable for West Mercia, external is promising to put more police officers on the streets.
Anthony Bangham began his new role this morning after first starting at the force 25 years ago.
"It is expensive, but we can become an organisation that focuses on that front-line response, focuses on that visibility and ensure that every other aspect of our business is transformed and reformed to ensure that we can focus on where it really, really [matters]," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

More than 1,000 people have signed a hard-hitting petition, external over cuts to children's centres after an explosion in support.

An independent inquiry is being launched into why more than 11,000 X-rays - some potentially life-saving - weren't looked at in Worcester, Redditch and Kidderminster.
It comes after the backlog at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, external was discovered during an unannounced inspection.
Chris Tidman - the chief executive of the trust - has just announced this inquiry into radiology services. He blames increasing pressures on the department for causing the initial backlog, which he says is now down to 6,300 scans.
Last week Healthwatch Worcestershire, external said patients could potentially sue the trust as serious illnesses could have been left undiagnosed.

Libby Ballingall, from Worcestershire, has beaten odds of 48 million to 1 by being born on the same day as her mum and dad.
Jodie, Mark and little Libby, from Evesham, were all born on 1 August.
Mr Ballingall says his wife and himself already had to share their birthday cake with another member of the family.
He said: "It's obviously been very, very amazing but my uncle Colin... shares the same birthday as well on the first of August and it was his 70th birthday... when [she] was born."

Between 10 June and 10 July 136 people either failed a drink driving test, or refused to be tested across the West Mercia area - that was around 10% of those stopped by the police.
Another 93 people failed the new drugs test in the same period.
The force said it ran its annual drink driving campaign later than normal this year, to coincide with Euro 2016 and believes the numbers show the message is getting through.
An independent inquiry will look into why a hospital trust had a backlog of 11,000 X-ray results.

Hospital pays £2m to patient left in wheelchair after hip surgery
A hospital patient who has received a £2m payout after hip surgery left him paralysed says he has had to learn to forgive.
Stephen Onley suffered complications after he was given an epidural during hip resurfacing surgery.
It resulted in a lack of blood to the spine which left Mr Onley, from Bromgsrove, relying on a wheelchair.
Birmingham's Royal Orthopaedic Hospital said they review "serious incidents such as this one" to "prevent similar incidents".

Organisers of the Pershore Plum Festival, external are trying to trace a missing name plate from a Worcestershire train from the 1920s.
The Pershore Plum was a Great Western Railway steam train that was used to carry fruit and sometimes horses in the area.
Festival chair Angela Tidmarsh says they want to trace the sign's whereabouts as it is important for the town's history.
She said "it would be nice to sort of fit that little bit of the jigsaw back in if we could".

West Mercia's new chief constable has been visiting the force's bases in Worcestershire today, where he started his career 25 years ago.
Anthony Bangham's appointment was confirmed yesterday.
Educated in Kidderminster and Droitwich, he started work as a constable in Redditch in 1991 and worked up the ranks in Bromsgrove, Worcester and Droitwich.
He's pledged to particularly support victims of crime and combat anti-social behaviour.
A cyclist from the Malvern area has completed a 100-mile cycle ride, external in and around London in support of a wildlife conservation charity.
