  1. Man left unconscious on canal towpath after assaultpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    A man found unconscious on a canal towpath, external may have been followed through the town before he was attacked.

    The victim was taken to hospital with facial, shoulder and arm injuries.

    Police say he may have been followed from the library in Kidderminster, through the Market Street car park, along the small footbridge over the river, or as he was passing Tesco.

    They are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 16:30 and 17:00 on Monday, 5 September, to come forward.

    The public are being asked to stay out of streams in the Wyre Forest by Natural England to help save the native crayfish.

    Natural England say dead native crayfish have been found in local streams, external and is investigating to see if this is an outbreak of crayfish plague.

    The disease was introduced into this country by imported American crayfish, and can be spread by walking or mountain biking in streams.

    Two brothers have built owl boxes to go in nature reserves in Worcestershire to help encourage birds to nest in the area.

    Jake Blackmore, who's 11, and his 14-year-old brother, Joshua, who are from Bromsgrove, were inspired by the BBC’s Springwatch programme.

    They made and put up a tawny owl box for Chaddesley Woods nature reserve and a barn owl box for Eades Meadow nature reserve.

    A proposal to limit the time when businesses in Worcester can put out their rubbish will be discussed later.

    The council is considering restricting businesses to putting out rubbish between 06:00 and 09:30.  

    Wheelie bins

    It will make the streets look tidier and discourage vermin and gulls, the council says.

  11. Academic represents GB in international triathalon eventpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 13 September 2016

    A 53-year-old mother-of-two has represented Great Britain for the first time in an international triathlon event.

    Liz Davies-Ward, who's an academic at the University of Worcster, completed the 1.9km lake swim, a 90km cycle and a 21km run at the Middle Distance Triathlon European Championships in Austria.

    Her finishing time was 6 hours 10 minutes and 56 seconds.
