    Dozens of homes in the area are without electricity this morning.

    Forty-one properties with the WR53 postcode in Worcester and 31 in Hereford are affected, according to Western Power Distribution, external.

    Seven properties are without power in Blackwell near Bromsgrove.

    Worcestershire's Moeen Ali is closing on a century as he helps England recover from the loss of three cheap wickets.

    Redditch's Matchborough First School Academy continues to be rated as "good", according to watchdog Ofsted, external.

  5. Field of Remembrance laid at Hereford Cathedralpublished at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2016

    People will be able to pay their respects to those from Herefordshire who died in the world wars, with a special Field of Remembrance at the Cathedral.

    Four hundred crosses, with poppies attached, are being laid today to represent the 4,000 men from the county who died.

    It's the second year the Royal British Legion has laid a field of remembrance at the cathedral and the organisation says one area is reserved for people to plant a cross in memory of any loved one who's died in war.

    A woman was robbed at gunpoint shortly after she got off a bus in Redditch, police have revealed, external.

    The victim was made to hand over her handbag, black purse and a mobile phone as she walked down a path leading to Fownhope Close.

    It happened just before 23:00 on Saturday. The victim reported that the suspect was carrying a gun.

  14. University submits plans for £100m complexpublished at 16:59 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    The University of Worcester has submitted plans, external for a £100m student complex.

    The scheme would be built on land north of Oldbury Road and include 1,540 student rooms, a "student hub" with a cafe and launderette, academic buildings and parking.

    People have until next Friday (November 18) to comment on the plans.

  15. Mother of murder victim welcomes sentencepublished at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    The mother of a woman murdered by a former Worcestershire schoolboy has said her pain and agony will never go away.

    Rurik Jutting has been sentenced to life in prison for the killings of Sumarti Ningsih and Seneng Mujiasih.

    Ms Ningsih's mother Suratmi called Jutting an "evil man".

  16. Work to stop badgers digging in cemeterypublished at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    Work to stop badgers damaging land near graves in Bromsgrove Cemetery will start next Tuesday, the council says.

    The badgers' main sett is close to the cemetery and they have dug a number of holes.

    Inspections by Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy have already taken place to monitor the activity of the badgers, following complaints from a grave owner.

  18. Hereford FC bans three fanspublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2016

    Hereford FC has confirmed, external three supporters have been banned from attending matches at Edgar Street for the rest of the 2016-17 season.

    Club officials have served the orders as part of their work with West Mercia Police. 

    Two of the bans relate to incidents at the FA Trophy tie at Salisbury on Saturday, 8 October, while the third follows problems at the home game against Paulton Rovers on Tuesday, 11 October.

    Former Hereford United youngster Jarrod Bowen has signed a two-year contract extension at Premier League club Hull City.

    The striker recently made his Premier League debut for the Tigers against Watford at Vicarage Road.
