    Four people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences , externalafter the police raided four properties in Stourport and Kidderminster.

    Around 30 officers took part in the raids on Friday, which police say followed information given to them by local people.

    • A 47-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from Kidderminster were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled class A drug with intent to supply.  
    • A 19-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

    All three were released on bail until Frebruary.

    • A 49-year-old woman from Kidderminster received a caution after being arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug.

  4. South pole team close in on targetpublished at 12:08 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    A group of army reservists skiing across the south pole have reached the polar plateau - only about a week away from their destination. 

    One of the group, Alun George, wrote in his latest blog post, external that after a rest day on Saturday the team had covered almost 17 nautical miles on Sunday and had now reached 8,200ft.

    They're raising funds for ABF The Soldiers Charity, in memory of former Herefordshire soldier Henry Worsley (pictured below), who died whilst attempting the same route in January.

    A Herefordshire farmer is preparing for the challenge of a lifetime, facing temperatures ranging from 45C (113F) to -72C (-98F). 

    Andrew Lloyd, 45, from Lyonshall will set off alone in the new year to walk from Siberia across the Gobi desert and the Himalayas to India, raising money to rebuild Ghurka villages hit by earth quakes in Nepal, external.

    He says training's going well, but he just can't seem to eat enough.

    Kidderminster Harriers' captain Keith Lowe says their victory over Darlington on Saturday was a massive win for the side. 

    Harriers completed the league double over the Quakers and remain in second place in the Vanarama North table. 

    The Aggborough side again missed a penalty, however, and Keith Lowe says this is clearly an area they need to work on.

  12. Boardman to develop 'revolutionary' new bikes in Eveshampublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    The mountain bike manufacturer Boardman has been given the go-ahead to build a new performance centre near Evesham. 

    The 18,000 square foot facility will be home to the brand's head office, physiology testing suites, café and other services. 

    The retired Olympic champion and world record breaker Chris Boardman has described the project as a dream come true. 

    The firm has not revealed how many jobs are involved.

    Swimmers in Worcester can now see what the city's new swimming pool looks like with the release of the first picture of the completed facility.

    The pool, which is part of a £10.5m refurbishment of Perdiswell Leisure Centre, , externalis due to open to the public on 7 January.

    The eight-lane, 25-metre main pool will be able to host regional compeitions and the smaller teaching pool has a movable floor, making it suitable for all ages and abilities.

    Andy Murray might have scooped BBC Sports Personality of the Year for a record third time, but let's not forget our very own winner.

    David Finney, who has been coaching at the Bridge Swimming Club in Redditch for 40 years, won the BBC Sports Unsung Hero award in the West Midlands.

    The energetic 83-year-old has also coached Redditch Swimming Club since 1972, oversaw a badminton club on Sundays and has helped out at Stonehouse Gang Youth Club in Birmingham since his teens in the 1940s.

  15. Buzzards being targeted in Herefordshirepublished at 09:06 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

    A £1,000 reward is being offered by the RSPB after six buzzards were deliberately killed in Herefordshire in the last 12 months.

    The tally in Worcestershire is four. 

    Police say they're being targeted by gamekeepers in the mistaken belief the birds take baby pheasants being reared on farms. 

    Sasha Norris, from Herefordshire Wildlife Rescue, said even if the birds aren't killed outright, some are being left to die in severe pain from lead poisoning.
