    A man armed with a knife has stolen cash, external from a petrol station in Stourport.

    West Mercia Police say the man entered the petrol station on Worcester road at about 18:30 on Thursday and threatened staff.

  3. Munitions workers honour: Rotherwas bombing victimpublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    A special badge could be introduced to honour the role played by munitions workers during the two world wars.

    This picture of Kathleen Blanche Wheeler, who died when the Rotherwas factory in Hereford was bombed in 1942, was sent by her nephew, Gerald Cooke.

    Two bombs were dropped on the factory on 27 July by a single German bomber - 22 people were killed.

  4. Most capped rugby player to be given Black Pear Tree awardpublished at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    Rochelle "Rocky" Clark, who is the most capped rugby player in England international history, is to be given an award by the county council.

    The 35-year-old Worcester Valkyries prop is to receive a Black Pear Tree award, external.

    The council says the awards are "a way of highlighting talent – whether this is in sport, business or educational fields". 

    Previous recipients include Olympic star Alex Gregory and Paralympic heroes Lauren Rowles and Claire Cashmore.

    BBC Hereford & Worcester is campaigning for a special badge to honour munition workers from the two world wars.

    Many people who had relatives working at the former munitions factory at Rotherwas in Hereford (pictured) have backed the campaign.

    Worcester Warriors' head coach, Carl Hogg, says there is mixed news on their injured players as they prepare for Saturday's trip to Gloucester.

    They are hopeful Jamie Shillcock will be available for selection, while Josh Adams is going through the concussion protocols after he sustained a blow to his nose in the win over Harlequins.

    But experienced full back Chris Pennell (pictured) will not be involved at Kingsholm.

    Plans to demolish Worcester's Sansome Walk swimming pool and leisure centre will be scrutinised by city councillors tonight. 

    The Labour-run city council say the site, which closed at the end of last month, needs to be knocked down quickly, with new housing in the area a priority.

  11. Munitions badge would be 'a thank you for helping us stay free'published at 10:21 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2017

    A special badge for munitions workers would be a way to thank them for the dangerous work they did in two world wars, according to an MP.

    Bill Wiggin, the MP for North Herefordshire, has submitted an early day motion to parliament calling for a badge to be presented, backing a campaign started by BBC Hereford & Worcester. 

    There was a large munitions factory at Rotherwas in Hereford (pictured) producing shells during WW1 and WW2.

    BBC Hereford & Worcester's campaign to get national recognition for the munitions workers of WW1 and WW2 has already gained support from MPs from across the UK. 

    The MP for North Herefordshire, Bill Wiggin, has submitted an early day motion asking for a debate in the House of Commons.

    Nancy Billings was 18 when she started work cleaning and filling shells at the factory in Rotherwas, Hereford.
