    Hereford FC make the short trip to Pegasus Juniors in the semi-final of the Herefordshire Challenge Cup tonight, external.

    The visitors are expected to play a number of youth team players.

    The Hereford FC website reports that Mike McGrath is eligible to play after serving a two-match ban.

    Kick off is at 19:45.

    Plans to increase council tax in Worcester have been approved by the Labour leadership. 

    Its share of the bill for an average "band D" property is to go up by £5 if the plans are approved by the rest of the council net week. 

    Parking charges are to be frozen for the year but councillors have warned that prices will go up at least in line with inflation within the next few years.

  9. Thousands of litres of illicit alcohol seizedpublished at 16:00 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2017

    Customs officers have seized 1,580 litres of wine and 18,100 cans of beer after raiding properties in Birmingham, Dudley, Worcester, Telford, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry and Wolverhampton.

    HMRC says an estimated £20,000 in duty and VAT evaded on the illicit alcohol and they also seized a van, used to transport some of it.

    Officers uncovered more than 10,638 litres of alcohol in the raids on 24 premises.

    A Worcestershire start-up company says it fears for the future of its business after the apparent theft of equipment.

    Pulse Pursuits - which has been running outdoor activities for nine months - says a trailer containing aluminium bike racking bars was stolen from the Top Barn Activity Centre in Holt Heath.

    The company's director, Roger Cook, says a number of upcoming events may have to be cancelled - putting the future of the business in jeopardy.

    A ward at Hereford County Hospital has been closed to visitors after a norovirus outbreak.

    The Wye Valley NHS Trust said it was a "preventative measure" and similar outbreaks weren't uncommon at this time of the year.

  14. Help to Buy scheme: How is it for first-time buyers in Worcestershire?published at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2017

    More than 340 government-backed loans have been given to first-time buyers in Worcestershire, latest figures show.

    As we reported earlier, the BBC has been looking at the impact the government's Help to Buy scheme's been having across England.

    In Worcester there have been 343 loans taken out at an average per loan of £44,561. That works out at 7.7 loans per 1,000 homes - the average loan for England, including London is £46,301.03. 

    This puts it at 52 out of 325 local authority areas in England for the rate of loans per household. The average house price is £196,929.

    Overall, one in three new build properties outside London were bought through the schme, the analysis reveals.

    The Happy Mondays and Seasick Steve are among the first headliners to be named for this year's Nozstock festival in Herefordshire.

  18. Busking code aims to eliminate any treble in Worcesterpublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2017

    A new guide for busking in Worcester has been approved by the city council. 

    The guide - which covers streets and squares - suggests buskers should stay in the same place for about 45 minutes at a time, shouldn't book pitches in advance and performers could be put before a panel if they face complaints.

    There's also a code for people wanting them to move on.

    Poppy Waterman Smith, who performs in the city centre, said she approved of the rules but thought the 45-minute limit was too short.
