    A pitch inspection will be carried out at Stalybridge as there are concerns over the "conditions". 

    Kidderminster Harriers are due to travel to Stalybridge Celtic for a Vanarama North game this evening.

    Worcester Warriors' director of rugby Gary Gold says nobody should write off Bristol because he's certainly not doing so. 

    Warriors' 41-24 win over Bristol on Sunday means Gold's side now has a seven-point advantage over their relegation rivals at the foot of the Premiership table.

    He says Bristol still have winnable matches to come at their home ground, Ashton Gate.  

  4. Government urged to tackle 999 ambulance abuse callerspublished at 10:34 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2017

    Calls have been made for harsher penalties to protect ambulance control room workers from abusive callers.

    West Midlands Ambulance recorded 1,924 instances in three years, from 2013 to 2016 when a caller was abusive.

    In six cases the abuse was judged to cause a "significant threat or concern".  

    The union Unison has urged the government to bring in tougher punishments to deter abusive callers.

    The Home Office said sufficient laws were already in place.

  5. Campaign to replace stolen minibuspublished at 10:21 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2017

    Staff at a Worcester-based charity which works with seriously disabled people say they're still struggling to cope since their minibus was stolen. 

    The Myriad Centre's, external  bus was taken last month. 

    Staff have set up a crowd-funding page, external  which has raised almost £1,000.

    It'll take £10,000 to replace the vehicle.

  6. Two people killed in crash near Stourportpublished at 09:58 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2017

    Two people died in a crash between two cars on the A451 in Worcestershire .

    A man in his 30s, who was driving one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

    A passenger in the same car, a woman in her 40s, was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after the crash near Stourport on Friday. She died the following day.

    A woman in her 80s who was driving the other vehicle was seriously hurt.

    Kidderminster Harriers are back in action this evening and head to Stalybridge Celtic for a Vanarama North game. 

    After back-to-back away defeats, Harriers will be keen to get things back on track against a Stalybridge side that is battling against relegation. 

    Harriers' goalkeeper Sam Hornby says the key thing is how they respond to setbacks.

    A man's body has been found in the canal at Spring Lane, Worcester, police say.

    The West Mercia force said , external it was alerted by a member of the public shortly before 07:30 this morning.  

    Emergency services are at the scene.

    We've been sent this picture of a busy train at Droitwich - with only two carriages.

    London Midland said there have been faults this morning resulting in cancellations and fewer carriages.

  16. Travel: New road layout for Hereford stationpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2017

    A mini roundabout at Hereford's railway station is being removed , external as part of the work to develop a link road for the city. 

    Drivers are being warned that from Wednesday, vehicles leaving the station's forecourt will have to give way to traffic from the station's parking area. 

    Station Approach will have one lane closed for traffic going onto Commercial Road from 19:00 until 05:00 from Thursday to Saturday while the work is carried out.

    From 16 March, access into Morrison’s car park for Station Approach traffic coming from the Aylestone Hill junction will also re-open. 

    Vehicles will continue to leave the car park via the far exit, near the Royal Mail building.

    Volunteers organising this year's Hereford River Carnival are hoping to raise £30,000 through crowdfunding, external to pay for the event.

    The two-day celebration of art, music and nature takes place each spring in, on and around the River Wye, and attracts crowds of around 15,000.

    The theme of this year’s  River Carnival, which takes place 28-29 April, external , is mythical beasts.

    A blind footballer and his guide dog, who he credits with saving him at a "very difficult time", are up for a national award.

    Nathan Edge, who's from Mansfield, lost his sight when he was 19. He said he "gave up on life", but it was his dog, Hudson, who pulled him out of it.

    The 22-year-old is now studying massage therapy at The Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford, and is part of the England blind football development squad.

    The two are finalists in the Eukanuba Friends for Life award and the winner will be announced on 12 March.
