    It's in tribute to Worcestershire's batsman Tom Fell, who has had his own battles with the disease.

    A Worcester woman, who was a victim of disgraced breast surgeon Ian Paterson, says she thinks he should have been given a life sentence.

    Paterson, who was jailed earlier this year after performing unnecessary operations on a number of patients, had his 15 year sentence increased to 20 at the court of appeal yesterday.

    Paula Gelsthorpe told BBC Hereford and Worcester said they disappointed with the length of the initial sentence.

    Up to 200 jobs are at risk in Hereford after city firm Gelpack called in administrators.

    Staff at the plastic manufacturing company were sent home yesterday and the gates were locked.

    Gelpack makes packaging for well known names in the food and drink industry as well as the pharmaceutical and bedding sectors but administrators KPMG says they've suffered difficult trading conditions recently.

    They've confirmed there have been no redundancies and they're looking for a buyer for the businesses and their assets.

    The restoration of a 400-year-old landmark building in Bromsgrove is almost complete.

    The Tudor House was built on the High Street in 1572 and has been renovated thanks to a grant of about £240,000 from the Townscape Heritage Initiative.

    More than 30 former munitions workers aged between 94 and 104 are set to be honoured at a special presentation in Hereford this weekend.

    They risked their lives handling explosives and dangerous chemicals in the two world wars, but had never received any national recognition.

    They're being presented with a commemorative badge at the Herefordshire Country Fair on Sunday.

    The family of a two-year-old boy who had his fingers and feet amputated after contracting a potentially deadly infection have spoken of their "heartbreak".

    Finley Amos, from Hereford, contracted meningitis and septicaemia in June, which left him fighting for his life.

    The family have now set up a £10,000 fundraising campaign to help Finley when he's older.

    The toddler was put in an induced coma and spent 13 days in intensive care.

    His father Matt Amos said the worst thing was Finley's mother, Sarah Bonner, having to sign a form saying medics could amputate, "which just broke her heart", he said.

    "We were told for the first three days he wasn't going to make it," said Mr Amos.

    "We were panicking... heartbroken."

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape following an alleged sexual assault at St Martin's Gate car park, in Worcester.

    The alleged victim, a 20-year-old woman, is understood to have been in the fifth floor lift lobby area when the incident took place, police said.

    West Mercia Police has appealed for witnesses. It happened on 20 July between 16:00 and 17:30.

    The 20-year-old man has been released under investigation.

  9. March to protest against homes on green belt landpublished at 08:44 British Summer Time 4 August 2017

    Protesters will march through Kidderminster town centre this evening to oppose plans for 2,000 new homes to be built on green belt land.

    Bosses at Wyre Forest District Council say they're under government pressure to earmark more land for housing.

    The authority's draft local plan is under consultation until later this month.

    Worcestershire Rapids resume their T20 Blast campaign tomorrow against the Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.

    After a slow start to the 20-over format, Worcestershire have found some form and will be aiming to continue that tomorrow as they will then host Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Saturday.

    The force applied for the order under the provisions of the Anti-Social Behaviour; Crime and Policing Act 2014.

    Concerns raised by residents of drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour prompted police to apply for the order.

    The housing association-owned property, in Sherrards Green Road, has been vacated by its resident and it was secured to prevent any unauthorised entry.

    The family of a Ludlow woman who died in a crash on the A49 near Leominster last month have described her as a "loving wife, mother and grandmother".

    Hannah Blakeway, who was 55, died on Monday from injuries she suffered in the collision on 23 July.

    Her family said she spent 15 years working as a cook at a local nursing home and added she "will be missed by family, friends, neighbours and members of the Community."

  18. Prickly moment for hapless hedgehog caught in fruit bowlpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 3 August 2017

    A hapless hedgehog which got stuck in a fruit bowl has been freed after being taken to a fire station.

    The RSPCA says the animal was found at about 06.30 wedged between metalwork forming part of the bowl, after straying on to a property in Redditch, Worcestershire.

    A spokeswoman said: "We were contacted by a concerned member of the public after they found a small hedgehog stuck in between decorative wires on a fruit bowl.

    "An officer attended and took the hedgehog and the fruit bowl to Redditch fire station, where a fire crew safely helped to free the hedgehog."

    The animal was not injured and, due to its young age, was taken to a wildlife centre.

    It will be released back into the wild when it has grown bigger.
