    Fears of a storm surge on the east coast has led to an emergency planning centre being opened in Lincolnshire.

    The county's chief constable Neil Rhodes said evacuation plans had been prepared and military support was on standby.

    High tides and gale force winds are expected to bring disruption to the area overnight on Thursday.

    BBC weather presenter Tomasz Schafernaker said the northerly direction of the winds was the problem.

    After undergoing a £5m restoration there'll be a special preview of the newly-refurbished Ferens Art Gallery in Hull today.

    It's been closed for the last 15 months to improve lighting and climate control. 

    To celebrate the City of Culture, a rare Pietro Lorenzetti panel painting will be unveiled. 

    The 14th century masterpiece has been renovated at National Gallery in London.

    The Environment Agency are putting flood defences in place along the A1077 in South Ferribly to protect homes affected by the tidal surge in 2013.

    I'm in South Ferriby this morning where the main road through the town, Sluice Road is now closed so flood defences can be put in place.

    The defences are being put in place because there is a flood warning, external for the east coast tomorrow morning. 

    In 2013 towns and villages across the region were struck by the worst tidal surge on the east coast in 60 years, causing widespread damage to about 400 homes and businesses on both banks of the Humber estuary.

    Temporary flood defences barriers are being put in place by the Environment Agency to protect homes in the village.

  9. Flood warnings in force for tomorrow morningpublished at 09:07 Greenwich Mean Time 12 January 2017

    We're being warned to stay in touch with flood warnings, external over the next few days. 

    The Environment Agency says a combination of high winds and tides could see flooding along the east coast.

    There is currently a low flood risk in place.

    The Environment Agency say high tides and gale force winds could lead to large waves overtopping the defences. 

    They add they are not expecting it to be a surge like that seen in 2013 (pictured).

    There will be a high tide on Friday morning at just before 05:00 in Bridlington, between 06:00 and 6:40 in Grimsby, Immingham, Hull and the Humber Bridge and at Goole at 07:30.

    There's growing concern for a missing woman from Goole, external.

    Police are asking 29-year-old Kayleigh Hunt to get in touch with them so they can check she is ok.

    Kayleigh was last seen by a friend near the railway station in Goole at around 09:20 on Thursday 5 January.
