There are still more than 20 flood warnings in place across the east coast between Bridlington in East Yorkshire and Humberston in North East Lincolnshire.

Here is a summary of the action in our region:

• Earlier high tide passed Bridlington and Hornsea where a number of properties have been flooded and homes evacuated.
• Hornsea Inshore Rescue says it rescued a grandmother and two children from a car trapped in flood water at Hornsea seafront.
• Water has receded in Withernsea after reports of water over-topping sea defences and forcing a road closure on South Promenade.  
• A number of properties were evacuated on Hessle Foreshore as the tide reached nearly 8m high at 18:45 GMT in Hull. People have been allowed back home as the water level receded.
• Humberside Police have urged people to stay safe and to not venture out to watch the huge waves hitting the coastline.

There's a large building fire in the Corporation Road area of Grimsby tonight. 

Humberside Fire and Rescue say there is a large amount of smoke in the area. 

They are urging people living nearby to keep their windows closed and for motorists to drive carefully.

A number of properties on Hessle Foreshore have been evacuated as high tide continues to move southwards, Humberside Police say. 

Residents have been taken by bus to Haltemprice Leisure Centre in Anlaby as a precautionary measure.

A number of properties have been flooded in Hornsea as water over-topped sea defences due to high tides.

Kathy Webb, whose home has been flooded a second time, says up to four feet of flood water has entered her property on New Road. She says: "The rabbits are safe, that's all I'm worried about."

There are reports that the flood water has started to recede in the town. The rabbits will be happy about that!

Humberside Police have warned people to stay away from seafronts.

Chi Sup Christine Wilson says people are venturing to the coastline to watch the high tide, despite homes in Hornsea being evacuated due to flooding.

She says properties in Withernsea are also being flooded and there are reports of water over-topping near Thorpe Park caravan park, at Humberside Fitties.

A family have been rescued from a car trapped in flood water at Hornsea seafront.

Hornsea Rescue say the family are unhurt as they saved them from the floating vehicle, which is now under six to eight feet of water.

They have urged people to stay away from seafronts and flooded areas as properties are evacuated while waves over-top sea defences.

East Riding Council is advising those who've been evacuated from their homes in Hornsea to go to the Town Hall.

30 properties on Pasture Road and more on Marine Road have been evacuated because of the danger of flooding.

People are being advised to stay away from the coast and not to go and watch the high tide.

The Environment Agency says the Tidal Barrier in Hull helps protect 17,000 properties.

It was lowered earlier ahead of this evening's high tide.

30 properties have been evacuated in Hornsea.

Humberside police say action has been taken as a precaution on Pasture Lane as waves have over-topped sea defences.

They also say they have had several reports of spectators on Marine Drive. They are warning people to stay away.

It should be a mostly dry and clear night, with just the odd shower near the coast.

Winds should ease inland, but it'll still be breezy in coastal parts and will feel bitterly cold.

The police are trying to trace this man from Hull in connection with a number of offences, including one of serious violence.

A number of  attempts have been made to trace 20-year-old Ben Waterman, but he still hasn't been found.

A 66-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man are in custody after being arrested on suspicion of assisting him.

The Environment Agency says the flood barrier in Hull has been lowered ahead of tonight's high tide.

More than 20 flood warnings are still in place in East Yorkshire and the Humber area.

They say the barrier will help protect 17,000 properties from flooding.

Hornsea Rescue says they had to help an elderly woman and two children from a car on Hornsea seafront this afternoon.

Humberside Police are warning people not to go to the coast to watch the high tides.

The rest of the Hornsea Rescue team are gathering to assist in the area, as high tide approaches.

East Riding Council says Hornsea Promenade has been closed.

Hull residents have nominated 100 people to be recognised for their contribution to the city.

The names will be honoured with plaques across the city as part of Hull hosting the City of Culture arts festival.

Plaques already unveiled feature the city's first female doctor and two men who sailed on Captain Scott's first journey to Antarctica.

The new list of nominees include Trevor Bolder, who will join fellow musician Mick Ronson in getting a plaque. The pair played with David Bowie in the Spiders from Mars in the 1970s.

The plaques will be unveiled throughout the year.

• 21 flood warnings remain in place on both sides of the River Humber and in Bridlington.
• The Environment Agency says there could be some localised flooding between 4pm and 7pm during high tide.

• People are being advised to stay away from the coast.

Hull's famous aviator Amy Johnson is to fly again, this time on a modern passenger jet. 

Her image will be used on the tail fin of a Norwegian Airlines plane, making her only the second Briton to feature on one of the airline's jets.

The Hull based building firm Hall Construction Group has confirmed it has gone into administration. 

The 130-year-old company, which built the city's C4DI building, employs 65 staff along with several sub-contractors. 

The administrators say they are hoping to find a buyer for the business.
