    As it's national sexual abuse and sexual violence awareness week, Humberside Police are urging victims to come forward and report any offences.

    People living on a new housing development in Driffield are being urged to let local people use a path down their street. 

    Quintor Homes, who built the new houses on Kirkwood Close, say the path isn't on the definitive right of way map, so they've fenced it off. 

    But East Riding councillors are threatening to start a legal process which could show a public footpath runs right through people's homes.

  6. Seven possible Hull drug deaths over two monthspublished at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    Since 3 December 2016 there have been seven deaths in Hull involving known drug users with a history of heroin use.

    Yesterday Humberside police issued a warning to heroin users urging them to be "cautious and vigilant" after a number of deaths in the area.

    The cause of the deaths is still to be established, but the police issued the warning as a precautionary measure.

    Sir Kevin Barron, MP for Rother Valley, John Healey, who represents Wentworth and Dearne, and Sarah Champion, MP for Rotherham (pictured), sued Jane Collins, MEP for Yorkshire and Humber for libel and slander.

    The case was sparked by a speech she gave at Ukip's conference in September 2014 - a month after a report found about 1,400 children in the area had been abused between 1997 and 2013. 

    Mr Justice Warby said she had alleged that each of the MPs knew many of the details of the exploitation yet deliberately chose not to intervene.

    The new coupling is part of a trial scheme to help economic growth.

  13. £1.4m redevelopment of Hull Paragon Station begins todaypublished at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    Train company TransPennine Express is investing over £1.4m in new facilities at Hull's Paragon station, with work starting today.

    The old Pumpkin Cafe will be converted into new customer toilets and a glass-fronted waiting room will be built, extending out from the front of the existing building. 

    Both facilities are due to be completed in spring 2017.

    Improvements to the ticket office will also be made in the spring, including the removal of the counter screens, and new retail units will also be installed in a bid to attract high street brands.

    A man who has motor neurone disease has been given a computerised voice which sounds just like him - even though it contains more than 20 different donor voices.

    Jason Liversidge (pictured), who lives in Rise in East Yorkshire, has been working with experts to create a personalised synthetic voice. 

    A research clinic in Edinburgh blended his already weakened voice with the donors.

  18. Legal decision due on Yorkshire & Humber MEP in Rotherham abuse libel casepublished at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    A High Court Judge is due to give his decision later today on a libel action brought over remarks the Yorkshire and the Humber UKIP MEP Jane Collins (pictured) made about the Rotherham abuse scandal.

    She wrongly claimed three MPs knew about child exploitation in the town but failed to intervene.

    The MPs - Sir Kevin Barron, John Healey and Sarah Champion - sued for slander and libel and want compensation of £150,000 each.

    A permanent memorial to Hull's 6,000 lost trawlermen is being put in place in the city today. 

    The memorial has been more than a decade in the making and will feature 14 silhouettes made out of steel.
