    Police are appealing for witnesses following an arson at the Epworth Thurlow Pre-School, external on Station Road in Epworth between 19:30 and 21:30 on Thursday 2 February.

    The fire was extinguished, resulting in limited damage but it's thought it was started deliberately and police are investigating the circumstances.

    The playgroup have found alternative temporary accommodation and have issued this notice to their Facebook page, external:

    The trial of a holiday park owner accused of mis-selling retirement chalets in Beverley has started at Hull Crown court.

    William Flannigan (pictured) is alleged to have sold holiday chalets at Lakeminster Park on the basis they could be lived in all year round. 

    But planning had only been granted for the properties to be used as holiday homes.

    Mr Flannigan is accused of 10 counts of fraud by misrepresentation.

    The former chief executive of Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust Phil Morley (pictured) is leaving The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in Essex.

    It was recently rated "inadequate" by Care Quality Commission.

    He left his chief executive post in Hull in 2014 just weeks before a highly critical report was published.

    A rare World War Two RAF clock has been stolen from Hook Village Hall near Goole.

    The timepiece once graced the walls of a World War Two RAF operations room but disappeared on 31 January or 1 February.

    Burton Pidsea's Memorial Hall is to be refurbished thanks to a successful lottery cash bid.

    It means the side and front of the hall will be rebuilt and there'll be an extension and new roof.

    It will make the building suitable for a wider range of activities. 

    Work is expected to start in April last around nine months.

    Ten Hull schools will send a pair of teachers over to the twin city of Freetown in Sierra Leone this week. 

    It's part of The British Council's "Connecting Classrooms" project, which helps to build partnerships between schools in different countries.

    Kathleen Gurthrie from Global Learning Hull says working with schools in Sierra Leone has huge benefits for pupils in Hull.

    Police are keen to speak to a man who came to the aid of a victim in Scunthorpe, external Central Park yesterday (Monday) 6 February.

    A man tried to rob a 16-year-old girl as she walked along the northern side of the park between 08:10 and 09:00.

    He ran off empty-handed when a second man in his 40s, wearing a green coat and jeans shouted at him.

  18. Hull City Council issue warning over heroin usepublished at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    Hull City Council have released a statement after the deaths of seven known drug users.

    They say it's too early to establish a cause of death for the people who died but they remind heroin users that it's an "extremely dangerous drug" and using it "always has the potential to be fatal, regardless of the strength or contents of a particular batch."

    They added that the number of drug-related deaths fluctuates and they encourage anyone who is going to use drugs to make sure they're not alone and to contact ReNew on: 0800 1615 700
