    Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, a former London socialite and the god-daughter of the Prince of Wales, has died at the age of 45.

    She had been diagnosed with a brain tumour last year and was found dead at her home earlier today.

    The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall who have been in Hull today have said they are "deeply saddened and our thoughts are so much with the family."

    The inquests into the murder of 30 British holidaymakers in Tunisia in 2015, including two from East Yorkshire has heard that armed police guards in the area could have stopped the attack at the very beginning. 

    Claire Windass from Hull and Bruce Wilkinson from Goole died when a gunman attacked a beach resort in Sousse.

    Today the inquest at the Royal Courts of justice heard that the police's refusal to intervene was down to "simple cowardice".

    Young people are being urged not to visit the site of a fatal accident in East Yorkshire.

    Humberside Police say they have had reports of people visiting the location on Barnhill Lane near Howden where two teenagers died last night (Tuesday 7 February).

    Officers say they are putting themselves and other road users in danger by walking along the busy roads in the area, especially with fading light.

    They've been holding writing residencies in five Hull secondary schools and today Camilla presented prizes to five young winners of Hull’s 100-word writing competition.

    As part of the visit the Duchess met an Emmaus companion.
