    A Hull-based sailing charity which helps young people who're out of work could secure extra funding.

    The Cat Zero project was criticised when it begun in 2008, with some calling it a "yacht for yobs".

    But the group says teaching teenagers to sail and work in a team has vastly improved their chances in life, and they've now helped more than 1,500 people.

    Hull's Street Food Night Festival takes place tonight with a new location in Zebedee's Yard.

    It was originally planned to take place in Trinity Square, but the organisers said the police had raised concerns over the terrorist threat.

    About 13,000 people attended the first event in April, with many stalls selling out of food early.

    Hull's 'Bee Lady' has been awarded the freedom of the city.

    Jean Bishop, who has raised tens of thousands of pounds in loose change for charity while wearing a bee costume, was granted the freedom of the city by councillors.

    Jean, who has severe arthritis, was named Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2013.

    She celebrated her 95th birthday at Hull's Guildhall earlier this year with a special birthday party.

    A ceremony marking this latest award will be held later in the year.

    More on the news that former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan is to deliver a Wilberforce Lecture in Hull during the city's annual Freedom Festival later this year.

    The Ghanaian diplomat, who was in the top UN post between 1997 and 2006, was invited to the city by ex-Deputy Prime Minister Lord Prescott.

    The Wilberforce Lectures celebrate the work of Hull-born abolitionist William Wilberforce, who lobbied to ban the slave trade and introduced anti-slavery motions in Parliament.

    Previous high profile speakers include Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Archbishop John Sentamu and Nigerian playwright and poet Wole Soyinka, who won the Novel Prize for Literature in 1986.

    Lord Prescott says: "I am looking forward to welcoming Mr Annan to Hull."

    The Spiders - Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Woody Woodmansey - were David Bowie's famous band during his Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane period in the early 1970s.

    Ronson and Bolder were both from Hull, while Woodmansey was from Driffield.

    Leicester City are expected to announce the signing of Hull City defender Harry Maguire today.

    BBC Radio Leicester is reporting the fee for the defender has been agreed and the player's medical has been completed.

    With the news that a special blue plaque is to be unveiled in Hull in tribute to David Bowie's Spiders from Mars, did you know?:

    • The Spiders from Mars were guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Trevor Bolder, both from Hull, and drummer Woody Woodmansey, from Driffield, East Yorkshire
    • The trio joined David Bowie in 1971, paving the way for 1972's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, which launched Bowie and his band to stardom
    • They also played together on the Bowie albums Aladdin Sane and Pin-Ups before the singer separated from the Spiders From Mars and moved to the US
    • An 8ft high sculpture honouring Spiders From Mars guitarist Mick Ronson was unveiled earlier this month in East Park, Hull
    • Ronson died in 1993, aged 46, after developing liver cancer, while Bolder died from cancer at the age of 62 in 2013

    With the number of people confirmed to have died in the tower block fire in west London expected to rise today, Hull City Council says checks take place in the the city's tower blocks daily.

    A total of 12 people are so far known to have been killed in the London fire, but many more are unaccounted for.

    Ongo Homes, which runs high-rise blocks in North Lincolnshire, has said it's contacted all residents to go over safety procedures.

    Robin Watkin, from the residents association for the Thornton Estate in Hull, which contains some tall flats, has told BBC Radio Humberside that lots of procedures are in place.

    After being put in special measures earlier this year, the trust which runs hospitals in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole is expected to tell patients how it is improving.

    "Significant concerns" over patient safety were raised by inspectors in April.

    Now the trust is planning a series of events to let people know about the improvements it is making, including a review of waiting lists.
