    Pride in Hull, external have announced two more names who will be taking to the stage in Queen’s Gardens on Saturday 22 July to entertain the crowds alongside pop stars Marc Almond and 80s icon Sonia.

    First to be added to the list is 90s teen trio Cleopatra. The Higgins sisters supported the Spice Girls at the peak of their fame.

    Also joining the line-up is X-Factor star Sean Miley Moore who appeared in the 2015 series

    An East Yorkshire nature reserve says the arrival of more than 20 avocet chicks is hugely significant for the area.

    The avocet is a threatened species and was once extinct in the UK.

    The chicks have recently hatched at North Cave Wetlands - a site that was once an industrial quarry.

    Nine new stores are due to open in Hull next week, creating 150 jobs.

    A floor of Princes Quay has been re-designed as an outlet shopping centre after a £20m investment.

    Shops including Next and Ben Sherman will open next Thursday.

    The University of Hull is looking for people over the age of 70 to help them with their latest project.

    The DEarEST project aims to work with older people to find out how we can improve and maintain good health and wellbeing later in life.

    Volunteers must be registered with a local GP and will meet four times between August and October at AgeUK in Hull.

    Drivers are being stopped around Beverley over the next couple of weeks, in an effort to try and work out how to cut down on delays on the roads.

    Vehicles will be stopped at random, with the driver being asked a number of questions to find out more about their journey.

    It's hoped gathering the responses will give the East Riding of Yorkshire Council more information about how people use the roads, and they'll be able to use that to cut delays.

    Businesses in Yorkshire and the Humber are the most likely to hire new staff, according to a new survey.

    More than 2,000 UK employers were asked by the Manpower Group, external about their intentions to expand and this region came out the most optimistic.

    Manufacturing, chemicals, paint and automotive industries are among the most prosperous in the survey.

    The Yorkshire Party, which wants to see an elected assembly created for Yorkshire, says it may turn to crowdfunding in future to raise the deposits needed to fight the next general election.

    The party has no multi-millionaire backers but unlike most other smaller parties it bucked the national trend and greatly increased the number of votes it received.

    Tim Norman, who fought the East Yorkshire seat for the party, says raising more cash is vital to the party's future.

  14. Appeal to owners after stolen tool stash discovered in Whitbypublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 12 June 2017

    Police are looking for their owners after they were found following arrests in Whitby.

    The arrests followed a series of thefts from vans in Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby.

    Police say most of the tools have been identified from previously reported crimes, but there are a number of outstanding items they believe are stolen but may not have been reported.

    Five men from West Yorkshire were arrested in connection with this incident and remain under investigation while enquiries continue.

    A charity box has been stolen from a Hull post office.

    The incident happened on Wednesday 7June, when a man came into Newland Avenue Post Office and asked for a form.

    Once the other customers left the shop, he grabbed the charity box from the counter and ran off towards Lambert Street.

    He then passed the charity box to a second man on a bike and they cycled away.

    The first suspect is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, with short dark hair and a slim build. He wore a dark grey jacket and jeans.
