    Some good news for Scunthorpe's British Steel this afternoon as it's been revealed 38 councils across the country have committed to using British Steel for their projects.

    The charter, which was launched by North Lincolnshire Council, aims to encourage local authority contractors to source sustainable steel.

    Councils including Manchester, Cardiff and Sheffield have all signed up.

    A man known as East Yorkshire's most prolific flytipper has been jailed for a total of six years after a string of distraction burglaries against elderly people and environmental offences.

    Darren Armishaw pleaded guilty to the crimes which took place last year.

    East Riding council say the flytipping offences at sites near Beverley, Lockington, Keyingham and Sancton were some of the worst they'd seen.

    The police say they're becoming increasingly concerned for a Lincolnshire man who's gone missing from Grimsby hospital.

    Peter Whitlam was last seen on Monday. He is from Alford, but had been living in Mablethorpe prior to his admittance to hospital.

    The 68-year-old was wearing pyjamas and has bruising to his face following a fall.

    A man's been taken to hospital with serious head injuries, external after an attack in Bridlington.

    The 23-year-old was assaulted at a flat on Quay Road just before 18:00 yesterday.

    Police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them on the 101 number.

    Current Strictly Come Dancing champion, Grimsby born Joanne Clifton is stepping down to concentrate on musical theatre.

    The professional dancer lifted the glitterball trophy with BBC presenter Ore Oduba in December.

    Oksana Platero - who danced with Judge Rinder - is also leaving the show, as is Natalie Lowe, who announced she was stepping down last month.

    The new dancers are Amy Dowden, from South Wales, Australian Dianne Buswell and Nadiya Bychkova from Ukraine.

    Grimsby born artist Benjamin Sullivan has said winning the BP Portrait Award after being shortlisted 13 times, is a "wonderful surprise and accolade".

    Sullivan won with Breech!, a tender picture of his wife Virginia breastfeeding their daughter Edith.

    The judges said it reminded them of Madonna and Child portraits and showed "the depth of the maternal bond".

    "For a portraitist, the BP award is the only gig in town - it's the most important thing," he told BBC News.

    North East Lincolnshire council is looking for somebody to run the Cleethorpes Carnival next year.

    It's been running for 41 years and is a big draw for visitors to the resort with thousands coming each year.

    It's not happening this summer as nobody could be found to organise it.

    Next week Cabinet will be asked to approve plans to appoint an event organiser.

    Plans to invest in transport infrastructure across the north will be discussed later today.

    Transport for the North says it developing a 'master plan' which includes creating around a million new jobs and a major roads network.

    It's hoped the plan would add £100bn worth of value to the Northern economy.

    Last weekend people in Yorkshire used an extra 250m litres of water.

    Yorkshire Water put that down to the hot weather and to people filling paddling pools and having extra showers.

    They say water stocks are slightly lower than they should be at this time of year at around 75%.

    They are asking people to think about how they use their water and have launched their annual water saving campaign.

    A man's been left with a broken jaw after being attacked walking home, external from a night out in Hull.

    The 22-year-old who had to have an operation to fix his jaw is thought to have been attacked on Trinity House Lane at around 02:30 on Sunday, 21 May.

    Police want anyone who saw anything to get in touch via 101.

    Hull Crown Court has heard how a former charity worker from Bridlington, accused of defrauding a pensioner out hundreds of thousands of pounds, told a lawyer that everyone in an existing will had passed away.

    Julie Sayles (pictured) is accused of fraud by abuse of position, using the money to buy two houses, making a fraudulent will and presenting it to a solicitor.

    She denies all the charges. The trial continues.

    How's this for something impressive?

    Art has been made by severely disabled children in Hull, using just their eyes.

    Children at Frederick Holmes School have been using eye-tracking technology.

    Children who can't paint in a traditional way with a brush are using the technology to select colours and choose where they go in the picture.

    Here's the results:

    The work is on display at Williamson's Solicitors offices in the Old Town.

    The money raised by the display and sale of the pictures will go towards a mini bus for the school.
