    They are part of a new photography exhibition featuring photos taken by children in Hull which opens at the Wilberforce Institute this evening.

    The Crossing Borders exhibition showcases images taken by local children in Hull and those from children facing adversity in South East Asia.

    Hull City has appointed former Newport County goalkeeper Pat Mountain as their new goalkeeper coach.

    The 40 year old spent nine years at Wolves in the same role.

    He is a former Wales under-21 international and retired from playing at the age of 27 due to a persistent knee injury.

  3. Flood protection scheme to be unveiledpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    A scheme to protect 8,000 homes in parts of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire is to be officially opened tomorrow.

    It's been 10 years since the devastating floods in this area.

    The £14m Willerby and Derringham Flood Alleviation Scheme is made up of a series of lagoons that will hold back water in the event of a flood.

    Two other schemes, the Anlaby and East Ella Flood Alleviation Scheme and the Cottingham and Orchard Park Flood Alleviation Scheme have recently been given planning permission and work is due to begin this summer.

    A woman in Hull who says she had her drink spiked is warning people to be careful when out drinking in bars.

    Dena Bennett was in hospital for hours having fluids drained from her body, and also suffered from hallucinations on Saturday night.

  7. Woman in a critical condition after A1033 crashpublished at 09:54 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    A 73-year-old woman has been seriously injured in a crash, external near Thorngumbald.

    Two cars were involved in the collision on the A1033 at Camerton at about 16:30 yesterday..

    Both drivers suffered minor injuries but the passenger of a Vauxhall Astra suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

    Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything to get in touch via the 101 number.

  13. Grimsby-born artist wins award for breastfeeding mother portraitpublished at 08:18 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    A portrait of a woman breastfeeding her baby by a Grimsby-born artist has won this year's BP Portrait Award.

    Benjamin Sullivan, 40, was awarded first prize for Breech!, which depicts his wife Virginia nursing their eight-month-old daughter, Edith.

    The judges said they were struck by the tenderness and intimacy of the oil painting, which showed the depth of the maternal bond, reminiscent of Madonna and Child portraits.

    Sullivan receives a £30,000 prize and a commission worth £5,000 at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

    The eminent art critic and documentary producer, Waldemar Januszczak has been in Hull today.

    He's been visiting the Ferens Art Gallery to view a painting he's adopted, by one of his favourite artists - William Dobson.

    The painting, 'Portrait of a Unknown Musician' is on show for the first time since its conservation.
