    People in Withernsea say they are struggling to book an appointment at their local doctors' surgery.

    Patients from South Holderness Medical Practice say the waiting times can stretch up to a month.

    The practice says they have secured long-term locum cover to help manage the extra demand for appointments in a bid to reduce waiting times.

    A review has been launched by authorities in Hull after an elite ice skater, who trained in the city, was convicted for a string of sex offences against young girls.

    Jamie Whiteman, a former Olympic hopeful, was jailed for three years in 2015 after pleading guilty to 16 offences, involving 5 victims.

    He's since been released. Concerns were raised as early as 2012 about his activities.

    A review is being carried out by the Hull Safeguarding Children's Board to see what lessons can be learned.

    Voluntary organisations which provide activities for young people across East Yorkshire are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £2,000.

    Since 2013, the council has given more than £250,000 to 144 different youth groups across the East Riding.

    Those involved want groups from deprived areas and dealing with vulnerable people to apply for funding.

    Photographs capturing the lives of an LGBT community in Hull's African sister city are to go on display.

    The House of Kings and Queens exhibition, which opens today at the Humber Street Gallery, shows life in the home of a young transgender woman in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

    It is part of an event marking 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised in England and Wales.

    Organisers said homosexuality still remained illegal in Sierra Leone.

    Plans for a Hull school to hold large scale events has been rejected today.

    Hymers College had applied for planning permission to be able to hold events such as weddings and drive-in movies. But the plans, which were originally recommended for approval, have now been rejected by the council.
