    A business in Beverly has been broken into for the second time this month as thieves attempt to steal the company's safe.

    Thieves broke into the business on Enterprise Park on Beck View Road in the early hours of this morning.

    Officers chased the offenders who were on a motorbike into Hull city centre but they escaped across a field.

    Up to 57 parents in Hull did not have their baby's ashes returned to them after they were cremated, a city council investigation has found.

    A report into infant cremations said families had been given "incorrect or incomplete information" by its staff.

    Tina and Mike Trowhill, whose son's ashes were scattered without their knowledge, said they were disappointed and called for an independent inquiry.

    The authority apologised and admitted "inconsistencies" in their records.

  10. Listen: MP wants new London train through to Cleethorpespublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    A Lincolnshire MP is urging Virgin Trains East Coast to extend one of the new additional services from London to Lincoln through to Cleethorpes.

    From 2019 the timetable will include more six more trains between Lincoln and the capital.

    Now Cleethorpes MP Martin Vickers is asking local councils to fund an economic impact report to support his case.

    Virgin East Coast says Lincoln is set to "benefit from a greatly enhanced service" and it "looks forward to continued discussions with stakeholders about additional future opportunities".

    Have a look at these fantastic pieces of art made up of baby footprints. It's a special piece of art that's been unveiled at Hull Royal Infirmary.

    Every child born at the hospital in 2017 is having their footprint added to a mural to celebrate being born in the city of culture.

    Midwifes have also added their handprints to the artwork. Today's installation marks the halfway point of the project.

  14. Watch: Success for campaigner as defibrillators installed in townpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    A journalist from Cleethorpes who had a heart attack at work last November has successfully campaigned for four new defibrillators to be installed in the town.

    Vince McDonagh was given an electric shock by paramedics to get his heart back into a rhythm before being taken to hospital.

    He and his colleagues raised money towards the cost of the defibrillators, which they hope will save lives in the future.

    Filming is due to start in Hull tomorrow for a new documentary revealing previously unknown or forgotten links between the city and world famous Victorian author Charles Dickens.

    New research has uncovered some fascinating facts about Dickens and his visits to the city where he performed several of his famous public readings of extracts from his works.

    Karen Devlin and Andrew Burton, leading the team behind the documentary, say "very little attention" has been paid to Dickens' trips to Hull, meaning "myths and mistakes have gone uncorrected and become accepted as fact".

    "This is the first step to correcting the mistakes that have sprung up about Dickens and his visits to Hull," they say.

    "It's also the first step to celebrating our city's connections with one of the greatest British writers."

    A postcard celebrating an arts project in Hull which documents every child born during its year as City of Culture is due to be unveiled.

    Every baby born at Hull Royal Infirmary is having its footprint added to a piece of artwork.

    Some of the parents involved will also have their pictures taken.

    The latest artwork celebrates the project's halfway point during Hull City of Culture 2017.
