    A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman's body was found by a busy road in North Lincolnshire.

    Habib Noorzia, 42, of Hainsworth Park, Hull is accused of killing 29-year-old Nasima Noorzia, whose body was found by the A15 near Barton on Wednesday.

    Mr Noorzia was remanded in custody by Hull Magistrates' Court.

    He will appear before Hull Crown Court, which will be sitting in Grimsby, on 2 October.

    A 16-year-old girl is due to appear before a Hull Crown Court judge today charged with the attempted murder of a member staff at her school.

    Joy Simon, a school welfare officer at Winterton Community Academy near Scunthorpe, was stabbed on Monday.

    The 61-year-old remains in hospital after an operation and is still undergoing treatment. She's said to be feeling better, but the Head of Winterton Academy, Mr Morris says there is still a long way to go.

    There's been a police presence at the school all week to reassure pupils and parents.

    Not that he'll mention it at all during his show...but Radio Humberside presenter Burnsy was amongst the winners for the BBC at last night's O2 media awards in Yorkshire.

    Burnsy was crowned Radio Presenter of the Year for a third year in a row and the show also took the Community Journalism award for Dead Bod.

    It's been announced that the company running Hull's City of Culture events will continue as a permanent independent arts organisation.

    It means we can expect the "Culture Company" to continue bringing arts events to the city.

    Here are the details of what they want to do:

    • A new £30m, 3,500-capacity regional music, arts and conference venue that will open in the summer of 2018
    • A major £7m refurbishment for Woodford Leisure Centre in East Hull
    • The creation of a £27m attraction that will "shine a light" on Hull's "unique heritage as Yorkshire's maritime city".
    • Ongoing development of a £50m cruise terminal for Yorkshire
    • The £130m redevelopment of Albion Square and Bond Street in Hull
    • A £3m restoration for Pearson Park

    A 42-year-old man will appear in court today after being charged with the murder of 29-year-old Nasima Noorzia whose body was found near the Humber Bridge.

    She was discovered by officers at the edge of a lay-by on the A15 near Barton in the early hours of Wednesday.

    Habib Noorzia has been charged with her murder and will appear before magistrates this morning.

  10. Listen: Call for reassurances following collapse of Wakefield City Academies Trustpublished at 06:54 British Summer Time 29 September 2017

    A public meeting is being held tonight following the collapse of an academy trust which ran 21 schools across Yorkshire.

    Earlier this month the Wakefield Academies Trust said it was unable to "facilitate the rapid improvement" its academies needed.

    The Department for Education said many of the schools within the trust, external were performing below the national average.

    Only four of the schools are rated as good or outstanding by Ofsted.

    Parents, staff and local politicians will meet at Hemsworth Community Centre this evening.

    Jon Trickett, the Labour MP for Hemsworth, in West Yorkshire, will be there and says he's angry and wants reassurances from ministers:

    A 42 year-old Hull man has been charged with the murder of a 29-year-old woman following the discovery of her body near the A15 on Wednesday 27 September.

    Police say they have taken the step not to name the 42-year-old man who has been charged as officers investigating the incident have so far not been able to contact the family of the victim.

    The police go on to say: 'It is important to be able to inform them of the death of their loved one before issuing any further details.'

    Hull City Council says essential maintenance works will take place on Inglemire Lane on Monday 2 until Sunday 15 October.

    Inglemire Lane will be closed to through traffic between Oldstead Avenue and Cranbrook Avenue.

    The signed diversion route will be via Hall Road, Endike Lane and Cranbrook Avenue, or Hall Road, and Cottingham Road and Cranbrook Avenue.

    The company behind Hull's year as UK City of Culture says it's going to continue working in the city for the next 20 years.

    It aims to make culture part of educating every child in the city - and that until it hands on the City of Culture title in 2021, it will set up new festivals and art installations - and bring more arts funding to the city.

    Construction workers protested at Hull's dock this morning, claiming they're missing out on work because of cheaper foreign labour.

    The demonstration, which was organised by the GMB and Unite unions, caused disruption to traffic and meant that ferry passengers had to be held on board.
