    More than 100 new affordable homes for families and older people could be built in North Lincolnshire.

    The local authority is to acquire 500 acres of land just off Junction 4 of the M180, close to the Forest Pines roundabout and aims to build 140 properties.

    Plans could also include road infrastructure improvements and sporting facilities.

    It's hoped the project could generate around 250 jobs.

  6. Funding for football excellence?published at 17:19 British Summer Time 27 September 2017

    North East Lincolnshire Council is bidding for money to transform the Bradley Football Development Centre into a regional centre of football development excellence.

    The council wants to install two new artificial turf pitches and extend the building.

    Councillors say if agreed, the scale of the proposed facilities would be similar to those found in cities such as Sheffield and Liverpool.

    A bid will now be submitted to the Football Foundation for £600,000.

    Comedian Bill Bailey has added an extra date for his Larks in Transit tour which comes to Hull City Hall in April next year.

    Larks in Transit is a compendium of travellers’ tales and the general shenanigans of 20 years as a travelling comedian.

    Tickets for the additional tour date, Thursday April 26 2018, go on sale at 10:00 on Friday 29 September.

    A proposed £200m energy park is facing opposition in Hedon near Hull.

    A number of big companies have declared their interest in setting up on the site, which is proposed to be built on the site of the old Hedon Aerodrome.

    However, the plannning application is facing opposition by local people who have registered the objections on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council planning portal.

    A flock of 100 mosaic birds will appear at Hull Paragon Station later.

    The artwork took six months to make and is called 'Fly to Freedom.'

    It'll be in place for a year.

    Police want students to be 'burglars' to show them just how easy it is to burgle a house.

    A mock bedroom will be set up with some items on display and others hidden away.

    Students will be given 10 seconds to find as many items as possible.

    It's after a school welfare officer at Winterton Community Academy near Scunthorpe was stabbed on Monday.

    A body found next to the A15 near Barton is that of a 29-year-old woman who was reported missing.

    Humberside Police said her body was discovered in a wooded area at the edge of a lay-by on the southbound side of the carriageway shortly before 04:00 BST.

    Officers had been looking for the woman, who was from Hull, after she went missing and concerns were raised about her safety.

    A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody.

    Det Sup Grainne Casey says they are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death.

    “Our officers located the body whilst undertaking enquiries following concerns raised around the safety and whereabouts of a 29-year-old woman from Hull. The cause of her death is yet to be determined and a post mortem examination will be conducted in due course.
