    Most of the wintry showers or rain will clear overnight.

    It will turn cold with a widespread frost developing, although there will be more cloud later on.

    Lows tonight of 0 Deg C (32 Deg F).

    Patches of ice are likely tomorrow morning and we'll be off to a fairly cloudy start to the day with outbreaks of rain and mainly hill snow for a time.

    This will clear later and turn bright and breezy with a few wintry showers.

    Feeling less cold as we head through the day, with highs of 9 Deg C (48 Deg F)

    The government says it is doing all it can for a Hull woman jailed in Egypt.

    Laura Plummer has been sentenced to three years for bringing illegal painkillers into the country.

    Her family say she's now being held in one of Egypt's worst prisons.

    Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt has told the BBC British consular officials are working hard on Laura's behalf.

    Hull City striker Will Keane is still over a month away from a return to competitive action after resuming training this week.

    The former Manchester United player has been out for more than 13 months following a knee ligament injury in November last year.

    Head Coach Nigel Adkins says they'll be careful with him after he spent such a long time on the sidelines.

    East Yorkshire swimmer Lizzie Simmonds is helping elite athletes decide what to do after their sporting careers end.

    The double Olympian currently has her sights set on the Commonwealth games in April but Lizzie is now also writing a blog for UK Sport, advising athletes on life after competition.

    The backstroke swimmer says she is helping break the stigma that athletes can only have one focus.

    Beverley Minster is to looking to take on an apprentice in the New Year.

    They would be part of the maintenance team who look after the lead work, glazing and plumbing.

    The current head of maintenance - who's been doing the job for 28 years - will be retiring in around four years' time and there is a need to train someone to take over the role.

    It's thought it will be advertised by the Beverley Minster's Old Fund early next year.

    Opera North brings the curtain down on its year in the City of Culture with a performance at Hull City Hall today.

    The company returned to full-scale performances in the city this year and tonight will celebrate with what it's calling a glittering Viennese Whirl.

    It's also promising there will be more to come in 2018 with an expanded programme in the city's schools.

    More than 100,000 people have been to the visitor centre at RSPB Bempton Cliffs this year.

    The charity says it also has good news about the seabirds themselves.

    The number of Guillemots, Gannets and Razorbills has increased since the last survey there, while Kittiwake and Puffin numbers remained stable bucking a national decline.

    New figures show the number of young people out of work and claiming benefits in Hull has dropped by nearly 70%.

    You are being asked to stay away from Hull Royal Infirmary's A&E department unless it is a genuine emergency.

    Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust say they are expecting more people to come to A&E because of the bad weather.

    There are also GP walk-in services or the urgent care centres which mean you could be seen more quickly than if you go to A&E.

    One of the highest rates of domestic abuse in the country is in North East Lincolnshire.

    Now Women's Aid in Grimsby is trying to change attitudes to domestic abuse.

    They will be holding awareness events in the East Marsh and Nunsthorpe areas of Grimsby at the end of January.

    Two men who robbed an 89-year-old man on Christmas Day in Hull have been charged with theft, external.

    The pair, a 29-year-old and 31-year-old will appear before magistrates this morning.

    The pensioner had his money snatched after using a cash point on Greenwood Avenue, in the north of the city.

    The ambulance service which covers Lincolnshire has reported an increase in call outs this Christmas.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service says it's had an extra 1,500 calls between last Friday and Boxing Day compared to last year.

    It says many have been weather related and it's asking people to take extra care in the icy conditions.

    Meanwhile, The Yorkshire Ambulance service says it hasn't seen a rise in the number of incidents, but there has been an increase in call outs for people suffering with winter illnesses.

    Have you seen missing Patrick Thornton?

    The 63-year-old went missing on December 22 from the Jubilee Gardens area of Leeds.

    Mr Thornton is described as a white male, about 5ft 6in tall, of a slim build and has a bald head.

    He was last seen wearing khaki trainers and a dark blue padded coat.

    He is known to have links to Methley, Great Preston, Kippax and Castleford and also owns a caravan in the Hull area.

    A band of sleet and snow will spread from the west with some heavier spells of snow likely. They could cause some disruption.

    Humberside Fire and Rescue have now said the incident at the King George Docks in Hull has been contained.

    Around 20 firefighters are at the scene of a "hazchem" leak at King George Docks in Hull.

    A spokeswoman for Humberside Fire and Rescue said there were four fire engines and a "specialist vehicle" at the scene but there were no casualties.

    There is no more information about the incident at present.
