East Yorkshire's Kyle Edmund has been knocked out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after a straight-set 6-4 6-4 defeat to Israel's Dudi Sela.
Edmund, 23, looked rusty in his first match since reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January as he struggled to find his rhythm.
Sela, 32, is ranked 97th in the world and used all his experience as Edmund's serve let him down in California.
Edmund will now turn his attention to the Miami Open later this month.

The person who mistakenly placed a £180,000 bid on a former Lincolnshire theme park carousel will not be pursued by the auctioneers, the BBC understands.
The ride was apparently bought in error by an online bidder during an auction of items from the former Pleasure Island theme park last week.
The ride, dating back to 1904, was among hundreds of items from the former Pleasure Island theme park in Cleethorpes being auctioned-off.
The purchaser claimed he clicked the button to make a bid unintentionally when he went to close his browser.
A campaign has now been launched to buy the carousel and keep it in Cleethorpes, meanwhile the auctioneer says several people have said they're interested in buying it:
