    Investigations are underway into a robbery at a shop in Grimsby this afternoon.

    Police were called out just after 14:00 to reports of a robbery at the shop on Legsby Avenue in the town.

    A man is said to have threatened staff and demanded money.

    Officers are looking for a man described as slim, 6 ft tall and wearing a blue hooded top and dark jeans with a handkerchief over his face.

    A visual arts festival is going to be held at Bridlington Spa in May.

    Organisers say the programme will bring together traditional, digital contemporary and urban art.

    As well as demonstrations by award winning artists, there'll be a variety of activities including workshops, an open-air painting competition, and live street art, which people can get involved with.

    The festival will be running on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May.

    Hull City Council has bought two sites it says will go towards its strategy to build new affordable and sustainable homes in the city centre.

    The local authority called the deal a "milestone" saying the sites will allow the construction of up to 850 homes.

    The sites on the east bank of the River Hull include the Grade II listed Northern Divers building and the former Clarence Mill site.

    Scunthorpe United chairman Peter Swann has confirmed to the BBC their interest in both Steve McLaren and Steve Cotterill as possible replacements for Graham Alexander.

    The League One play-off hopefuls Scunthorpe sacked manager Graham Alexander (below) over the weekend after eight games without a win.

    The Iron's chairman says he will be looking to talk to both Steve Cotterill and Steve McLaren about the job.

    Cotterill (below left), was most recently in charge at Championship side Birmingham City, who sacked him at the beginning of March. McLaren (below right), meanwhile, has recently been coaching in Israel, but he left Maccabi Tel Aviv just before the new year.

    Humberside Police have reiterated road safety advice to parents and children following the death of a 15 year old boy on the A63 over the weekend.

    The boy was hit by a car on the busy dual carriageway on Saturday night.

    The advice includes not crossing a dual carriageway unless using a designated crossing, and not crossing a road while using a mobile phone.

    Officers say an investigation is under way into the events of Saturday night.

  8. Rawcliffe Bridge to reopen for cars onlypublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 26 March 2018

    Cars will be able cross the Dutch river at Rawcliffe Bridge from Thursday.

    The bridge has been shut since last October after tests revealed structural problems.

    Highways officials say lorries and buses will be banned from using the bridge from now on.

    Barriers will be put in place to prevent any vehicle wider than a car from crossing.

  9. Appeal to find building's owner after suspicious blazepublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 26 March 2018

    Humberside Police are trying to find the owner of a derelict building in Grimsby which they believe was subject to an arson attack.

    Firecrews and police officers attended the fire at the former "Funland" building on Cleethorpes Road in the early hours of Saturday.

    Humberside Police said the fire was quickly put out and no-one was hurt but they would like to find out who owns the building.

    Bridlington is to host open days for people with mobility issues to try specially-adapted cycles.

    The All Ride scheme, launched in 2014, is for people over the age of five and is the only initiative of its kind in the East Riding.

    It offers people with disabilities the opportunity to take part in cycling.

    The open days, to be held tomorrow and on Tuesday, 3 April, are free and an opportunity to find out more about the bikes.

    More than £5m is being given to East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to repair potholes.

    The Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling, announced an extra £100m is to be shared among councils in England to fund repairs to roads damaged in recent storms.

    It comes in the wake of Storm Emma and the "Beast from the East" cold snap.

    Humberside firefighters can no longer board ships to tackle fires because their training certificates have run out.

    In a bid to save money due to cutbacks, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency has stopped providing the vital helicopter winch training fire crews need.

    Humberside's chief fire officer Chris Blacksell is due to meet the police and fire service minister later to try to resolve the issue.

    Associated British Ports says the situation needs to be dealt with, urgently.

    A report out today say there are huge gaps between the most disadvantaged children in the north and those in London.

    Growing Up North says they are more likely to go to a poor school and to leave education early.

    It calls for secondary schools in the most deprived areas of the north to be improved and for children to be made a priority in the Northern Powerhouse project.

    A man's suffered head injuries after being attacked in Scunthorpe at the weekend.

    Officers were called to Old Brumby Street at about 04:00 after reports a pedestrian had punched the windscreen of a parked taxi.

    Humberside Police says two men who had ordered the taxi assaulted the man before leaving the scene.

    A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after armed police were called to a hotel in Hull city centre earlier today.

    Trained negotiators were called to the scene on Beverley Road at about 05:30 this morning after reports that two males, aged 17 and 19, were being held in a room against their will.

    Officers say all individuals were brought safely out of the room and no one was injured.

    Police believed all three were intoxicated and they have been taken to Hull Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
