    Proclaimers at Beverley Folk Festival

In its time, the event has brought thousands of people to the town and has attracted some big names in music.

Well-known acts such as The Proclaimers (pictured at the festival) and Billy Bragg have performed at the festival.

It has also provided a platform for local musicians and up-and-coming talent to get their chance to showcase their talents.

It used to be held at various venues across the town, but in 2012 it moved to a bigger stage at Beverley Racecourse in the hope it would attract a larger crowd.

However, along with those who had bought tickets, the racecourse is now owed money and staff there have told us the site's still not received money for the previous year's event.

Anyone who has bought tickets, which were priced at over £100, has been told to contact their banks about potential refunds.

The organisers of the Beverley folk festival say it is with "immense sadness and regret" that they have had to cancel the 2018 Beverley Folk Festival.

It's because they have lost their "primary source of funding" and would be unable to pay for either the infrastructure or performers.

The not-for-profit company that runs the event says they are unable to refund those people who have bought tickets in advance of the festival.

This week is World Immunisation Week.

To mark the event two phone boxes are being filled with sugar in Hull's Queen Victoria Square.

The sugar represents the vaccine which was delivered orally on a sugar lump to children.

In 1961 more than 350,000 people in the city were given the polio vaccination in 1 week thanks to 3,000 volunteers.

    The exhibition marks that effort.

Around £100,000 worth of damage was caused to Cleethorpes railway station after a man entered the station and smashed windows.

  20. Compensation set aside to pay sex abuse victimspublished at 08:19 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

Millions of pounds has been set aside to pay compensation to victims of historical child sex abuse at an East Yorkshire children's home, a BBC investigation has found.

    St Williams

Over 200 men say they were abused at the Catholic-run St William's school - but only two have so far received payouts.

Two of St William's former employees were jailed in 2016 for abusing boys at the school.

In January 2016, the former head of St William's, James Carragher, 75, was jailed for the third time after he was found guilty of sexually abusing boys there.

He was convicted of 21 indecent assaults and three serious sex offences, but cleared of a further 30 charges.

Anthony McCallen, 69, a former chaplain at St William's, was sentenced to 15 years for a series of offences.

Annual reports show over £7m has been earmarked for the victims.

But the organisation which ran the home says insurers are blocking the payouts.
