    Four men have been arrested after a 24-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in a town centre.

    Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and another on suspicion of conspiracy to commit the offence after the attack in The Boulevard in Crawley, West Sussex, on Saturday night.

    The three held on suspicion of attempted murder are a 40-year-old from Brent in London, a 30-year-old from Thornton Heath, Croydon, and a 24-year-old from Haywards Heath.

    The man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy is a 31-year-old from Thornton Heath.

    The victim is in a stable condition at St George's Hospital in London. His injuries are described as potentially life-changing.

    Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to contact them quoting Operation Andes.

    Two housing developments which will stand on neighbouring plots of land in Gillingham have been granted planning permission.

    Medway Council's planning committee supported plans for nine homes on Napier Road, as well as eight houses at the former timber merchants near Borough Road.

    The two applications - submitted by separate applicants, but on the same day - were considered separately and members voted 12-3 in favour of both.

    Residents had raised concerns about a range of issues, including waste collection and plans to access the Napier Road site via an existing driveway currently used for off-street parking.

    A bus driver who has achieved the record for the shortest bus driver says he hopes to inspire others to "not give up".

    At 1.36m (4ft 4in) tall Frank Faeek Hachem, 55, from Havant in Hampshire, has worked as a bus driver in Chichester, West Sussex, for 18 months, Guinness World Records said.

    "Being a short person, of course you've got difficulties but I am a fighter," said Mr Faeek Hachem, who has achondroplasia, a common form of dwarfism.

    "I never give up and I always make sure I get on with things; with life. I always look at myself as just a normal human being."

    Originally from Iraq, he moved to the UK more than 20 years ago.

    A double decker bus has been stolen then abandoned in Margate.

    The Leyland bus was taken around 04:00 BST.

    It hit a number of other cars and several walls in Reading Street, Broadstairs, before being abandoned in Taddy Gardens at 04:16 BST.

    Access to Birling Gap remains closed today, following the fall of a large amount of rock at the weekend.

    A search by coastguards after the fall on Saturday found there had been no injuries, but Wealden District Council says Birling Gap steps will stay closed while a safety assessment is carried out.

    There are warnings that the long period of dry weather has made cliff falls more likely.
