    David Green, leader of Bradford City Council, says he was shocked by this morning's stabbing and his thoughts immediately went to the teacher, his family, colleagues and pupils at the school.

    "It is important we don't jump to any conclusions", he added. "I want to see the outcomes of the police investigation."

    He stressed schools in Bradford needed to be "safe and welcoming" places for young people to learn.

    The 50-year-old teacher stabbed at a Bradford school this morning is believed to be Vincent Uzomah.

    He was stabbed once in the stomach with a knife during a science lesson at Dixons Kings Academy but is in a stable condition, police said.

    A 14-year-old-boy was arrested in Bradford city centre earlier following an extensive manhunt.

    Another parent of a child at Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford, where a teacher was stabbed this morning, says she couldn't get in contact with the school after the incident.

    Safina Fazzall has told me: "They didn't pick up the phone and wouldn't let me in.

    "They need to do a better security plan. There are hundreds of students going here and the parents are worrying with this kind of news."

    Parents are now gathering outside Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford to pick up their children.

    A male teacher was stabbed at the school at about 08:50 this morning and is now in a stable condition in hospital.

    Police are searching for a 14-year-old boy in connection with the incident.

    A student who claims to have seen the incident in which a teacher was stabbed at a school in Bradford says it happened after a boy refused to hand over his mobile phone.

    He said: "He just got something out of his pocket and stabbed him and ran off."

    The boy said the teacher was polite and "never shouted" and described the boy as an "alright" person.

    As the search goes on for a 14-year-old boy after the stabbing of a teacher at Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford earlier today, I've been speaking to parents of pupils at the school

    Mohammed, whose younger sister goes to the academy, has told me the incident raises concerns in his mind after he struggled to get any information from the school.

    He says: "It just puts concerns in your heart. Is my sister all right, are the children and teachers all right? You don't know if they're safe."
