    I'm at Northside Road, Lidget Green in Bradford outside Dixons Kings Academy where a 50-year-old male teacher was stabbed earlier this morning. He's described as being in a stable condition in hospital.

    At the moment, I can see a police dog and his handler searching a large field beside the school.

    Otherwise, there's an air of relative calm just now. The school's still open and the pupils are still inside, carrying on their day as best they can. Clearly a decision's been taken here to keep things relatively low-key.

    West Yorkshire Police has told us it will give more details on the stabbing at Dixons Kings Academy in Lidget Green in Bradford, external later this afternoon.

    The school itself has been contacted by BBC Yorkshire but has said it will not comment at the moment.

    A statement on the school's website says, external: "There has been an incident at Dixons Kings Academy this morning. The police and the academy are working together to investigate the incident."

    The Bradford school where a teacher has been stabbed this morning has been operating since September 2011.

    Dixons Kings Academy was one of the first free schools to open. According to its website, it's "committed to providing our students with a broad and balanced curriculum without compromising the focus on the core subjects".

    Its last inspection by schools watchdog Ofsted, external said it "requires improvement".

    "You don't want to impose more security but another incident like this is very worrying."

    There's been a big increase in the last two years in the number of interventions made by Bradford Council in homes where children are considered "at risk".

    A total of 565 youngsters were subject to child protection plans in March this year, a rise from 365 in March 2013, according to council figures, external.

    Ralph Berry, who sits on Bradford's child safeguarding board, says it's because of "an increase in awareness of child protection issues as a result of a number of national cases".

    More on the arrest of a man on suspicion of attempted murder and attempted rape, external after an attack on a 23-year-old woman in Kirkstall, Leeds, on Monday.

    Police say the 30-year-old man was arrested in Bramley last night and he remains in custody this morning.

    Anyone who was in the area of the attack, which took place at about 17:50 on Monday near Redcote Lane, Kirkstall, is being asked to get in touch with police.
