    Jo Cox MP for Batley and Spen was holding a surgery at the Birstall Library and we're hearing reports she has been injured.

    Fans are starting to gather at Millennium Square in Leeds ahead of this afternoon's Euro 2016 showdown.

    "I think Raheem Sterling needs dropping and we need Harry Kane in the box, not taking corners" he said.

    Two young cousins have been locked up, external for more than 25 years after seeking out sex workers to rape in Huddersfield.

    Lucas Sienkiewicz was only 17 and his cousin Daniel just 16 and newly-arrived from Poland, when they twice went to the red light area of the town in the space of six weeks, each time targeting a woman they found there.

    We could see some breaks in the cloud and more in the way of brightness this afternoon, however we are likely to see very heavy thundery showers developing throughout the afternoon.

    There's just a week to go the EU referendum and campaigners say Black and Asian communities in Yorkshire could swing the vote to either remain or leave the European Union. 

    More than 300,000 people in our region are from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background - but there's a warning that only half of people who are eligible to vote will actually do so.

  11. Yorkshire Festival opens todaypublished at 11:36

    Eighteen days of arts celebrations begin in West Yorkshire today. 

    The Yorkshire Festival is in its second year, the first event in 2014 generated £10m for the region's economy and saw 800,000 people engage with art, music and theatre. 

    Organisers say this year's programme, external includes 900 performers from 22 countries.

  12. Rock Against Racism exhibition opens in Bradfordpublished at 11:15

    Photographs capturing some of the most important moments and inspirational figures of the Rock Against Racism movement are to go on show in Bradford.

    The images, taken by Syd Shelton, from Pontefract, include pictures of The Clash, Misty in Roots and The Specials.

    The collection also features photos taken at the Rock Against Racism Carnival at Victoria Park, Hackney, which attracted a crowd of 100,000.

    More now on the news that Huddersfield Giants have sacked coach Paul Anderson and his assistant Kieron Purtill.

    Anderson took over in July 2012 after Nathan Brown's exit and led the club to the League Leader's Shield in 2013.

    However, they were unable to repeat the success of his first full season in the following two years and have struggled this campaign.

    Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner has signed a new contract with the club.

    The 44-year-old former United States international striker was appointed Terriers boss in November and guided them to Championship safety last season.

    His assistant Christoph Buhler has also signed a new deal.

    A woman from Otley has met the Defence minister this week - in her campaign for justice for other war widows. 

    Susan Rimmer lost her first husband back in 1972. She was given a war widow's pension, but that stopped when she remarried.

    However, 11 years ago the government introduced a new scheme allowing women to receive compensation for life. It doesn't apply, however, to those who remarried between 1973 and 2005.

  17. Yorkshire has seen the biggest fall in the number of people playing sport since London 2012published at 09:39 British Summer Time 16 June 2016

    The number of people playing sport in England has fallen since the 2012 London Olympics, despite the Games' pledge to "inspire a generation".

    The biggest drop was in Yorkshire and Humber where a 1.7% decline equates to 67,100 fewer people regularly participating in sport or exercise.  

    Latest figures, external show 15.8 million people play sport or exercise at least once week, a drop of 0.4% since 2012.

    Former Sports Minister Richard Caborn said the fall was "disappointing" and a sports charity said the Games' promised long-term legacy had not yet emerged.

    There were touching scenes in Hebden Bridge last night, external as crowds gathered in the town to hold a vigil and walk of solidarity for Orlando massacre victims.

    The event was organised by Happy Valley pride and it saw an outpouring of support in St George’s Square.

  20. A1 death latest: Police appeal for witnesses to fatal collisonpublished at 08:52 British Summer Time 16 June 2016

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision between Junction 44 and Junction 43 of the Southbound A1(M) in Leeds. 

    A1 incident

    The incident happened at about 10.09 yesterday at an area known as the Aberford Dip on the A1.

    A Iveco HGV collided with a male who is believed to have been next to a Mercedes recovery van. The van was stationary on the hard shoulder of the carriageway.

    A 36-year-old man died from his injuries.
