    The husband of the late West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox has hit out at Nigel Farage on Twitter over the former Ukip leader's response to the suspected terrorist attack in Berlin. 

    Brendan Cox warned him that he was heading for a "slippery slope" after he linked the carnage in the German capital with Chancellor Angela Merkel's policies.

    More than 60,000 people have visited the biggest "kissing tree" in Europe which can be found in Leeds.

    A couple from Pudsey - who were the first to try it out - decided it was so good they'd get engaged under the tree in the Trinity Shopping Centre.

    The £39m redevelopment of Headingley stadium has moved a step closer after a potential obstacle was removed.

    Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rhinos had proposed to fund the project by selling land for housing development.

    The clubs have now dropped two residential housing planning applications after "complex planning matters" delayed the renovation scheme.

    A "positive outcome" to the redevelopment application at a council meeting in January could see improvements made in time for the 2019 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, said a statement from the clubs.

    Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has turned down an offer to manage Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

    BBC Radio Leeds understands the German club approached Wagner on Monday, but the former USA international rejected the offer on Tuesday.

    The 45-year-old former Borussia Dortmund coach took over at the Terriers in November 2015.

    Town, who have won their last three games, are fourth in the Championship, 10 points behind leaders Newcastle.

    A Bradford MP has called on the government to get to the bottom of what's happening with the running of the Bradford Bulls rugby league club.

    Bradford, who were world club champions in 2006, were placed into administration for the third time in four years last month because of an unpaid tax bill.

    In a debate in the Commons, Judith Cummins (pictured), the Labour MP for Bradford South, has urged sports minister Tracey Crouch to help the club.

    In reply, Ms Crouch, who describes herself as "an armchair rugby league enthusiast and Leeds Rhinos fan", said she wished the Bulls well for the future.

    "Bradford Bulls are a positive force in their local community and I have no doubt that their prompt reinstatement to the Rugby Football League would be a wonderful boost to the area and the sport more widely," she told the Commons.

    Officials in Wakefield have been given a share of £25m to help disabled people live more independently in their own homes.

    The money will be spent on adapting homes and on new technology to make life easier for those with disabilities.

    It's hoped it will also reduce hospital admissions.

    A Leeds actress has set up a campaign to bring cinema to children in refugee camps. 

    Shireen Farkhoy and artist Will Johnson are raising money to travel around Europe with a portable screen and projector.

    It's hoped the cinema experience will provide some much-needed happiness and escapism to the children. 

    The Moving Picture project was created by the Waterloo Road and The Royal Today actress who's trying to "crowdfund" the money for it.

    A Leeds man has gone missing after being assaulted, sparking an urgent appeal by police, external.

    Jim Smith, who's 43, was last seen in the early hours of this morning in Armley.

    The extent of his injuries are unknown and officers say he may need medical attention.

    Mr Smith's described as white, 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build with short brown hair.

    Two landmark Bradford theatres could be sold as budgets continue to be cut, according to a council report.

    A management buyout is one of four options being considered by Bradford Council for the future of its venues.

    It owns and runs four venues: the Alhambra and its Studio Theatre, St George's Hall, and the King's Hall and Winter Gardens in Ilkley.

    More than £570,000 has been lost from the theatre budget since 2011, with a further £120,000 to be cut in 2017-18.

    A major London-based restaurant which is popular with celebrities is considering expanding into Leeds.

    The city is among a number of locations that the owner of the The Ivy is looking at, along with Manchester and Birmingham. 

    A spokeswoman has confirmed that Caprice Holdings, who own The Ivy, is looking for sites for its Ivy Collection which include a restaurant, cafe and a brasserie and grill.

    Huddersfield Giants have confirmed the signing of Australian utility-back Jake Mamo from Newcastle Knights on a two-year contract.

    The 22-year-old is reunited with his former coach Rick Stone, and is expected to join up with the squad by the middle of next month after recovering from a broken ankle.

    In a statement on the club's website, external, Mamo says he's "really excited" to be joining the Giants.

    "It's a new experience for me coming over to England, as I have only ever lived at home, but I’m excited by the opportunity and can’t wait to get started," he says.

    We've got some very big problems on the A1 northbound with seven miles of queues in South Yorkshire.

    One lane's currently closed in Wentbridge between the Wentbridge North and Darrington turn off, because of an accident involving a van and a car.
