This year, Brownlee, 28, became the first man to retain the Olympic triathlon title at Rio 2016, finishing ahead of brother Jonny, who claimed the silver.

He later made headlines across the world when he selflessly helped his exhausted brother over the line in a dramatic end to the Triathlon World Series in Mexico.

  3. Traffic and travel: Big delays on M1 near Lofthousepublished at 08:22

As I've already mentioned, things aren't going too well for drivers on the M1 so far this morning.

The problem is concentrated northbound at J42 (Lofthouse) where the main carriageway's closed due to a jackknifed lorry.

Traffic's queuing right the way back to J39 (Durkar) and it's reported to be solid on all routes trying to get onto the M1 northbound.

It's also having knock-on effects on the A650 heading either side of the M1 at J41 (Carr Gate).

Here's the latest traffic cam picture from J42 northbound on the M1:

It'll be a dry but rather cloudy and murky start with some mist and fog.

While the odd brighter spell is possible through the day, thicker cloud is likely to develop later.

  5. Traffic and travel: Big delays on M1 after accidentpublished at 08:02 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2016

There are big problems on the M1 at the moment.

There's queuing traffic and the main road is closed, with traffic being routed around the junction and back on again, on the M1 northbound at J42, M62 (Lofthouse), because of a jackknifed lorry.

    A diversion's in operation. Congestion to J40, A638 (Ossett) and to J39, A636 (Wakefield).

One lane's also closed and there's slow traffic on the M1 southbound at J42, M62 (Lofthouse). Congestion to J43, M621 (Belle Isle).

These are recent traffic cam shots from the area:
