    M1 Northbound lane closed on exit slip road due to roadworks at J34 A631 / A6178 (Meadowhall) . 

    A644 Wakefield Road, northbound, Brighouse , lane closed due to electricity work on A644 Wakefield Road Northbound near Coal Pit Lane.  

    A170 Hungate Eastbound in Pickering closed due to gas main work between The Ropery and A169 Malton Road.

    People in Dewsbury say they hope a controversial drama about the hoax kidnap of Shannon Matthews will not portray the area in a bad light. In 2008, nine-year-old Shannon was drugged and hidden by her mum and her stepfather's uncle as part of a plot to claim reward money. 

    Tonight, the story of the community's campaign to find her will feature in a BBC One drama called "The Moorside".Writer Neil McKay says the area is portrayed positively.

  5. Could Leeds' cycle superhighway be getting bigger?published at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    The Leeds cycle superhighway could be getting bigger, if a £6.5m plan is approved, external.

    Councillors will talk about the idea later this week and have called it "CityConnect2", it would see an extra 10km of separate cycle ways pop up in the city.

    The cycleway would extend through the city centre along Wellington Street to City Square, from Queen Street to Westgate, from Leeds Bridge into the South Bank and from north to south along the line of St Peter’s Street. 

    Leeds City Council say the majority of the money will come from the Department for Transport and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

  7. Lady in fatal tipper truck accident named by policepublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    Police have now named a woman who was killed after being hit by a tipper truck in North Yorkshire.

    It happened near to Tesco in Northallerton last Tuesday. 

    Mildred Horner, who was 89-years-old and from Thirsk Road in the town, sustained serious injuries and died in hospital. 

    Police have spoken to the 51-year-old lorry driver.

  8. Tax credit cases to be reviewed after campaign by Sheffield MPpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    Thousands more families who were wrongly stripped of their tax credits by the US contractor Concentrix are to have their cases reviewed.

    A committee of MPs that produced a scathing report on Concentrix said on Monday that HM Revenue & Customs had accepted its recommendations.

    Sheffield Heeley MP, Louise Haigh, asked Theresa May to call time on the model.

    On the afternoon of 27 January two men broke into a house in Geraldton Avenue and stole jewellery.

    The burglars were driving a white Toyota Aygo, which drove off towards Perth Avenue.

    A 43-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Leeds at the weekend.

    The woman was walking along Tongue Lane in Moortown on Saturday morning, when a grey Vauxhall Corsa hit her.

    The un-named woman was badly injured and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but she died later that day. 

    The man who was driving the car stopped at the scene of the accident and spoke to police officers.

    The trust running Scarborough Hospital says the A&E department isn't under threat.

    The claim follows a report from the Health Service Journal labelling it as at risk of being downgraded.

    Hospital bosses say some changes are taking place so patients can be seen more quickly, but there are no plans to change opening hours.

    People who use British Sign Language (BSL) have better reaction times in their peripheral vision, a new study from the University of Sheffield has found.

    The findings show that hearing adults learning BSL had a positive impact on visual field response.

    If you live close to Dalton Industrial Estate near Thirsk, you'll be relieved to hear that work to replace the bridge there is to begin in April.

    Dalton Bridge has been affected by flooding for years and this means . the stone hump-backed bridge is closed for significant periods.  

    There's restricted access to the estate and neighbouring community. Nearly 1,000 people work on the site.

    Hambleton District Council says they've put the multi-million pound project out to tender. Work is due to begin in April.

    A Sheffield councillor has said protesters in Chippinghouse Road put themselves and contractors in danger when they disrupted tree felling work.

    This is what's left of a BMW 1 series that collided with the back of a lorry between junction one and two of the M18.

    The driver did not suffer any major injuries.
