    An ambulance has crashed into the railings next to Pudsey Town Hall this afternoon.

    We don't know if the ambulance was responding to a call, but we've asked the Yorkshire Ambulance Service for more information.

  2. Four men bailed in Raheem Wilks murder inquirypublished at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    A 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following the shooting of Raheem Wilks in Leeds has been released on bail. 

    The man, who was arrested on Friday on suspicion of the murder of Mr Wilks (pictured) in Gathorne Terrace, Harehills, on 26 January, was released on police bail today as inquiries continue. 

    Three other men, aged 28, 29, 30, who were arrested on Friday on suspicion of assisting an offender, have also been bailed pending further inquiries, West Yorkshire Police said.

  4. North Yorkshire patient levels 'unsafe'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    The number of patients on hospital wards in England has been at unsafe levels at nine out of 10 NHS trusts this winter, the BBC has found.

    Among them are all three of the trusts that run hospitals in North Yorkshire.

    The pressure on beds has meant many patients have been at a higher risk of infection and there have been delays in people receiving treatment.

    The grandparents of Shannon Matthews have called a new BBC TV show based on the fake kidnapping "sick and disgusting".

    The drama, starring Sheridan Smith, revolves around the hoax kidnap of the then-nine-year-old girl, who was drugged and hidden by her mum Karen and her stepfather's uncle.

    Both kidnappers planned to "find" Shannon and split the £50,000 reward on offer.

    They were later arrested and jailed. 

    But now speaking to the Daily Mail, Shannon's grandparents have criticised the BBC for making The Moorside, a drama about the events.

    Sir Kevin Barron, MP for Rother Valley, John Healey, who represents Wentworth and Dearne, and Sarah Champion, MP for Rotherham (pictured), sued Jane Collins, MEP for Yorkshire and Humber for libel and slander.

    The case was sparked by a speech she gave at Ukip's conference in September 2014 - a month after a report found about 1,400 children in the area had been abused between 1997 and 2013. 

    Mr Justice Warby said she had alleged that each of the MPs knew many of the details of the exploitation yet deliberately chose not to intervene.

  11. Your comments: Fog shuts lane on M62published at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    Earlier we told you why the extra lane on the M62 near Leeds was shut this morning. 

    It was all down to the thick fog, meaning that Highways England couldn't see properly on their cameras, so they decided to close the lane for safety reasons.

    But if you're travelling along the A64 westbound you'll see this.

    Nether Edge councillor Alison Teal is among seven people arrested at a tree-felling protest in South Yorkshire today.

    Councillor Teal is among four women and three men who were taken into custody earlier following a stand-off between police and protesters in Chippinghouse Road, Sheffield.

    Police were called as Sheffield City Council contractor Amey tried to remove trees against the wishes of campaigners.

    The work was part of a £2bn Streets Ahead, external scheme to remove diseased, damaged or dangerous trees in the city.

  15. Man bailed after Dewsbury pedestrian killed in road crashpublished at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2017

    A man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was run over near a supermarket has been bailed. 

    A white BMW 420 coupe struck the woman under a railway bridge on Bradford Road, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, on Saturday, police said.

    The road was closed for four hours, with a section of the nearby Lidl car park also cordoned off.

    A 21-year-old man has been bailed pending further inquiries, said police.

    Two men were taken to hospital after a fight at a Leeds restaurant which left one with stab wounds and the other badly beaten.

    Police have released CCTV images of men they want to speak to following the fight at Fusion in Harehills in the early hours of last Monday morning.

    A 24-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his throat and chest and a 25-year-old man suffered head injuries after being kicked and stamped on. Both were released after treatment. 

    They were later arrested, along with seven others on suspicion of violent disorder and bailed.

    A Green Party Councillor is one of seven people arrested after a stand-off between council contractors, police, and protesters.

    Kirkgate Market has been selling food and goods to the people of Leeds for more than 150 years and last week it won "Britain's Favourite Market" for the second year in a row.

    A 19-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a collison with an ambulance at the weekend in Leeds.

    The ambulance was answering a 999 call when it happened on Otley Road in Headingley on Saturday afternoon, she was on foot at the time.
