A new £80m School of Arts at Leeds Beckett University (LBU) is being opened to the public - but only online for now.
Covid-19 restrictions mean that few people are allowed into the specialist building in Portland Street, so a new 3D virtual tour of it is being launched, claimed to be the biggest ever commissioned anywhere in the world.
The building, designed by architects Hawkins/Brown, will support more than 2500 students and 100 staff studying, teaching and producing research in film, TV, technology, sound, music, drama, dance, and fashion.
There'll be a professional standard recording studio, 180-seat performance theatre, a 220-seat movie cinema, as well as dedicated TV, film, green screen and black box studios.
Professor Peter Slee, Vice Chancellor of LBU said, “This incredible new building offers our talented students, staff and creative-industry partners access to world leading facilities. It underpins the powerful claims our city can make as a capital of culture and a thriving creative economy”.
A 330ft (100m) long sand drawing of a lifeboat has been created on Scarborough Beach to raise awareness of a campaign raising funds to "keep lifesavers kitted and trained to deal with emergencies."
In preparation for what's expected to be a busy summer period, the RNLI says it's putting out its own mayday call, by asking supporters to take part in The Mayday Mile, external, which challenges people to cover one mile in any way they like between 1 and 31 May.
To raise awareness of the campaign a group of RNLI volunteers have helped to create a giant sand drawing on Scarborough Beach, inspired by a Shannon Class lifeboat – the newest class of RNLI lifeboat used by the charity to save lives at sea.
Standing at the back of the lifeboat – which was created by the RNLI alongside expert sand artists, Sand in Your Eye – is a RNLI crew member, to give the illusion that the craft is answering a Mayday call out at sea.
The lifeboat’s bow features the number 349, to highlight the number of lives that were saved by the charity’s lifeguards and lifeboat crews last year.
Adam Sheader, Volunteer Crew Member, RNLI Scarborough, said: "Through The Mayday Mile, we’re hoping to raise enough funds to keep crews and lifeguards kitted and trained to deal with emergencies – and to come home safe themselves."

The line up for Sheffield's Tramlines music festival has been announced.
Tramlines, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, will go ahead this year, organisers said.
The event at Hillsborough Park in Sheffield from 23-25 July will include headliners The Streets, Royal Blood and Richard Ashcroft.
The line-up will also feature The Kooks, Dizzee Rascal and The Fratellis.
The festival which started in 2009 as a free event, was postponed last year due to Covid-19 regulations.
However those who bought tickets will be able to use them for 2021's event, organisers said.
Tim Cleasby, operations director for the festival, said: "We're keeping a close eye on developments and will act accordingly should things change."

A decision on plans to ban nude bathing at Harrogate's Turkish Baths has been delayed to allow council chiefs more time to consider their decision.
The 124-year-old spa, run by Harrogate council, has previously had swimwear-free options at single-sex sessions.
However, covering up could be made compulsory because the authority said it would reflect greater "equality" in the modern world.
The changes to end single-sex sessions were revealed last year but customers criticised it and said people would stop visiting if it went ahead.
Swimwear will become mandatory for men and women if the plans are eventually agreed
Baths manager Chris Mason previously said the changes would "promote inclusivity" but 92% of 325 respondents to a survey said they felt mixed-sex sessions only would stop customers attending.
A decision was due on Friday but a spokesperson said it had been deferred so that the "matter could be given further consideration".
A 20-year-old man sustained a bullet wound to his arm in the Friday night shooting, police say.
