Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has unanimously voted in favour of a referendum in the town which will let the public decide whether they want to be part of a devolved South Yorkshire or become part of a Yorkshire wide deal.
The council has been meeting this morning to discuss this proposal and the council's leader Sir Steve Houghton was delighted by the decision:
Doncaster Council are voting on the same decision later today.
