North Yorkshire's police and crime commissioner has written to the government warning they may need more money to police anti-fracking protests.
Latest figures show the force spent nearly £150,000 on the protests last month.
The cost of policing the anti-fracking protests at Kirby Misperton has now gone above £550,000.
That's for the last four months.
Should it hit £1.4m, or 1% of the force's budget, they can then apply for financial help from the government.
In anticipation of that happening the county's police and crime commissioner, Julia Mulligan, has now written to ministers.

Students from the University of Sheffield have won an international engineering competition after their project, a plate reader which measures bacterial growth, impressed judges.
Eight students from the faculties of Engineering and Science won gold at the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition in Boston
Their project, a low cost plate reader created largely by a 3D printer, detects the number of bacteria in a solution by detecting the light passing through the suspension.
The less light that passes through the solution the more bacterial growth there has been.
The plate cost just £100 to produce - others can cost up to £10,000.

Wakefield Trinity have signed versatile back Ryan Hampshire for the 2018 season, following Leigh's relegation from Super League last term.
Hampshire, 22, can play across the back-line and in the halves and has made 60 league appearances for Wigan, Castleford and the Centurions.
His arrival follows the exit of half-back Sam Williams to NRL side Canberra Raiders in September.
"It has taken some work to get there," head coach Chris Chester said.

This Thursday Leeds' Kirkgate Market will open its doors at night again, after a successful pilot in October.
Thousands of people went to the first event, this week the council are promising a "festive" night time experience.
The events space and food hall section of the market will be opened up until 23:00.
Coun Jonathan Pryor said “The night market is a great opportunity for visitors to discover some of the market’s popular traders whilst enjoying a night out with friends or family."

More than 1,000 pupils were told to leave Birley Academy at about 09:40 as a "precautionary measure" while police searched the site.
The teenager is being held on suspicion of malicious communications - a charge which can carry a prison sentence.
Ch Supt Natalie Shaw said: “After a prolonged search of Birley Academy, a device has not been found.
"Hoax calls are malicious and irresponsible, they can cause a considerable deal of distress."
After 16 years experience of DJ-ing at some of the best club nights in the UK, veteran DJ Miss Melodie is training the next female DJ generation.
After seeing a lack of female representation, Miss Melodie decided to set up her DJ Academy in Leeds to help encourage more females to take part.

The teenager has been arrested on suspicion of malicious communications and is currently in police custody.
